OT: Door to the After Life Found ...

Interesting.

Thanks for the heads up.

On a side note, I watched a documentary on Nova (I believe) on the final break through on deciphering the Mayan heiroglyphs and also the spoken ancient language. Very interesting doc. Their system of multiple symbols for the same sounds and meanings were similar to the Egyptians so that scribes could use what ever symbols they wanted for a more 'artistic' set of sentences. That is what really made it difficult on the decipherers. One sound had perhaps 28 different symbols for the 'U' sound, I believe it was. Each one, the same sound, and it was 'one third' of the heiroglyph, which means the glphy had two other sub-components, (in the squar-ish little symbol area).

The funny part is that a kid that would hang out with his dad, watching him work during excavations, that got into drawing the glyphs just from curiosity, was the one that finally broke all the secrets of the Mayan system, even the spoken sections..

Not surprising since the Romans were almost *everywhere* back in the day.

Well I didn't say surprising, I said interesting.
But thank you, I am quite well aware of the exploits of the Romans during this time period. :icon_lol:

I find it interesting that the someone made the decision way back when to dig up this particular large chunk of red granite, move it a couple kilometers to Karnac, and incorporate into a wall of their building.
Of course labor was much cheaper then... :icon_lol:
