OT - Gigabyte GTX460 no output signal

I recently purchased a Gigabyte GTX460, but

My old video card (8800GTS 640) is dead and I replaced it with just the one described earlier.

Once installed, I have NO SIGNAL output.

My power supply is a DPS-460DBA.
My system is an HP m9090.it with Vista 32.

Ask for help to understand if there is a procedure.

Just quickly before heading to bed. It could be that your old card used a DVI connector and your new one uses hdmi or something else. You may have to switch your monitor input if that's possible on your current monitor.

The wattage itself means very little as long as you are above 450 watt or better when dealing with the GTX series Nvidia video cards. What is your +12V rating on your PSU?

I should add the PSU should be rated 80+ efficient or better

A "no output signal" displayed on your monitor means the monitor is not receiving a video signal. Did you hook up the PCIE power cables to the video card? I think the GTX460 requires a pair of six-wire PCIE 12v hook ups, the 8800's only had one.

So your PSU has only two 12v rails, each rated at 18 amps for a total of 36 amps. Honestly, I think that's a bit on the light side for today's hardware, but it meets Nvidia's minimum requirements. The video card, hard drive, CD-DVD drive, fans and motherboard all need 12 volt power, so it's easy to max out a lower end PSU. Then factor in the fact that the factory specs are usually maximum output, under ideal conditions, and for short periods of time. It's also quite possible that a PSU will not actually reach those stated values and it certainly won't as the PSU ages. Without testing, I can't say for certain that it is the PSU, it could be a bad video card, but I am saying that I think you are cutting it close on power.

Back to the matter at hand, which is getting the video card to run, did you put in a splitter and plug in a pair of 6 wire plugs into the video card?

To add a little more into this, the molex type connectors don't always do what you think they should be doing. First thoughts, plug it into the card and that's it. Well, this is not always the case. as those little pins in the connectors are pressed into the shape they're in. They have a split joint where the two sides come together when formed. If you look into the plug you'll see what I'm talking about. This might remedy the "No signal". Disconnect the pigtail from power and put a knife blade into the joint of each pin. Spread it open a little bit. Once all pins have been spread open, reconnect it. I've had the same issue on several cards and that was the cure
