OT (kinda) 3D environments

One of my other hobbiies is 3D/CGI design and one of the programs I use is VUE (esprit, the lower end of the spectrum, LOL) whch is a very powerful rendering app, basically similar to the FS game engine, only more powerful with more advanced options. FS could look like this, but it would take much more power to run this kind of frame by frame simulation.

Anyhoo, the developers of Vue had a landscape competition with some hefty prizes and here are the finalists with the runners up on the next page.

Keep in mind this is all done in 3D, pretty impressive stuff.

Stunning! They give some pretty good prizes for their contests too! (Over $2000 worth of software and prizes).
 
Amazing stuff. I'd be willing to spend a little more for a system that could run an FSX like that! Thanks for the HU.

Man, those are some glorious landscapes. I love the whole 3D rendered environment part of the FS scene, and it's always interesting to see how much more can be accomplished if the software doesn't have to run in realtime. Thanks, Bob!
