OT- Macbook Pro thoughts?

One of my kids is planning to buy a 2008 MacBook Pro and I know squat about Macs. Does anybody have opinions about this item? She will be getting all software (OS and misc others) and it will have been re-installed as new. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi. I have a 2008 MacBook Pro.

Having been a long time PC gaming enthusiast computer geek I'm reluctant to sound too much like an Apple fanboy now but here's the truth......

My MBP was a surprise Birthday present from my wife. She had heard me threaten once again to throw my custom PC, that I built myself several years before using all the top of line components, out the window into the trash. After reluctantly learning an all new OS I've used the MBP pretty much non-stop as my main computer for doing everything from mail to gaming (I could still play my PC games and flight sims on it via a Windows partition using BootCamp). My ol' gaming PC (allot great memories there) had been relegated to being just my wife's 'surf the internet box' for several years. My MBP has run flawlessly, seriously, flawless for the fifth year now. I honestly don't have anything bad to say about the hardware, OSX or software and I suspect the hardware will be long outdated before it finally quits running and I have an excuse to buy a new one, which I will, my PC days are long gone. Oh, my wife was more of a die hard PC geek than I was. Every time I said I wanted to stop having to update, re-install, run antivirus's or figure out yet another Windows mystery and get her a MAC she would throw a fit. Last February for her birthday I surprised her, like she had me, with the smallest MacBook Air. Now that thing never leaves her hands lol

So, ya, your kid will love it and I highly recommend it.
