OT Sad news from Avsim

When we are born, we do not know how many lives our single life will touch because our world is so small. As we grow, our world expands and so do the lives
that we will touch. Tom's life and work have touched millions in many different ways and continue to do so! In our prayers and thoughts....

I used to be a pastor many years ago. I used to tell people that death is a natural part of life for everyone and everything...it's just hard to leave the company of those you love. I was also a hospital chaplain in a terminal children's ward. Death is never fair, it always hurts the ones you love and the one that departs the adventure life holds. Tom is legend in his own time and will remain so long after his death. What he has provide for the enjoyment of so many will never be forgotten as long as their is flight simulation. Because of some things I have experienced I believe in a hereafter so I wish Tom Godspeed on a new adventure.

So sad to hear about this. Hope Tom will spend time with family, loved ones and friends... he certainly has ALOT of friends here at SOH and in the FS community as a whole. He has done so very much for us all, my thoughts and prayers are with him.

If prayers, thoughts and well-wishes count for anything then Tom is going to stand a very good chance in this battle.

I was thinking today about what a huge debt everyone in the FS community owns to Tom. Without Avsim I don't think this hobby would have been anything like it has been over the last 15 years or so.

He and Avsim are major pillars of our hobby, from way back - this is very sad news. Cudos to him for thinking of Avsim at a time like this. As Neil said, "I hope the time he has left is full of meaning. smiles, love, and family, and with as little pain as possible." Certainly be thinking of him.

Mike

Its a bit personal, but I pray every day. usually in the wee hours of the morning. Seems like good alone time for that. Anyway, Tom is now in my daily prayers. I ask God to give him peace above all else.

Our prayers are for those who loved him.

I hope the prayers, heartfelt thanks, and kind words seen here give comfort and help to Tom's family and his friends across the world and at Avsim.

It will impact our hobby to lose someone like Tom who never stopped giving to our flight simming community.

good flights, Cal

RIP Tom......

</dd></dl>"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
- Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."

Rest in peace Tom. Thank you sir for all you've given to the flightsim community over these many years.

Brian

He once gave me a soothing advice and shared his experience in Tinnitus which I suffer for so many years. He got his Tinnitus during his active years in military and I can't forget what he said to me. Good bye Mr. Allensworth, thank you for your great forum.
