ot,story about a family friend

my mothers best friend,shirly,she and mom have been best friends since 3rd grade,never lost touch through severl moves on shirlys part,ect,,they talk daily no mater were shirl or mom is(are?)shirl married a man named Ed,,,this is about "Ed" he owns Packards,many of them,his show cars are 1937 model 120 V8 roadster ( doesnt sound like much,but is custom bodied,and only 3 survive,the other two are in museums)a 1939 sedan that has a sinister mob look to it ( i love that car) and a 1956 carribean convertable,he also has a late 40s jeep forward control pickup,,maybe 50s,,,,COE thing..pretty cool,anyway,,,he has a bulged disc,,,he is 73 years old and has always prided himself with not being sick,so he gets an MRI and he gets the results,,needs meds and a shot,,he feels better and drives from auburn to coloma state park ( story there to,as the bridge over the american river in the state park is named after his grandfather,and his family are all buried in the state park owned historic cemitary,and ed and shirl are to both be buried there,,,they will be the last,,,anyway,,,he decides he want to take the 37 roadster,,,he has to lift his left leg by hand to both break anduse the clutch,and it a little over 6 miles from auburn to cool though a steep windy river canyon road,,,,just stupid....and then the day before yeasterday he decided to drive to the house in cave junction or,he felt really good ( he has been on meds and staying on the couch or in bed) and he gets up and moves a backhoe from a jobsite to a new site for his son which was a 20 mile trip on a large JD hoe,,,by the time he was done..he couldnt walk and is now TICKED off at the drs for not doing him anygood.......................arrrgggggggggggggg..................

gettin old sure ain't no picnic. some folks find the decreased mobility hard to accept. that part i can sure understand
