P-47D-25 Stump Lifter

jankees

SOH-CM-2025
It's been a while since I last painted anything for FS2004, but I recently did a paint for the A2A P-47 Bubbletop in the colors of #11 of the 86th FG, "Miss Tennessee / Stump Lifter" as flown by Lt Bennie Flake:

the paint is here: http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/file/5130-a2a-p47d-25-86th-fg-stump-lifter-for-fs2004/

and there is a funny story behind the noseart on the right side: The name 'Stump Lifter' stems from that fact that one of Lt Flakes friends, Lt. Stewart said that his bombs never hit their target and that all he ever saw during sorties with Lt Flake were large tree stumps flying through the air. Lt. Stewart paid the squadron's artist to put the "stump lifter" art on Lt Flake's cowling without his permission, but he came to like it over time.

Thanks Jan! Hope you'll do some more for this bird!

Dave

I did do quite a few a long time ago, in my FS2004 days, did you ever try those?

and there should be a few more..

I found one screenie:

Maybe I'll do a few more since a bubbletop is still sadly missing in FSX..

as for the old A2A Mustang for FS2004, I did more than 200 paints for that one, so don't count on any new ones in the near future.
You should be able to find them here and on avsim.

Cracking fine work on those P-47's, Jan. I took them all (Greedy sod that I am). I have most of your stuff for the P-51's, they are still on the active roster and get regular flight time.

Thanks again!

A blast of thunderbolts

Many tks JK. Stump Jumper was a really nice surprise for an old FS2004 fogey. Also grabbed your other offerings. Very clever utilisation of Bomber's paint kit.

You are right, not enough skins of 'bubbletops' in FS2004 . . . .

Tks again

Jan,

I think I have pretty much everything you've done! LOL! You're one of my favorite painters.
