Damned entertaining. Very nicely done! (Walking on water....bloody cheek!)lol.

Btw.....I was experiencing that drop to 12-15 fps consistently in Fraps as well. Was drivin' me NUTZ. Turned out in my case to be an anti-aliasing issue. Although it always showed anti-aliasing to be "None" in CFS3cfg, it was showing up as 4x in the default overrides file. Edited the value there to show D3DMULTISAMPLE_NONE....and lo and behold, it solved my problem. I just override the AA at the driver level as well. Works fine at 8x now.

Keep 'em comin' mate. I love watchin' 'em. Love the blast from the past your selection of tunes brinds as well...:applause:

Cheers,

Yeah drives you crazy dunnit Parky :isadizzy: It certainly makes a huge difference though when you can record at a steady 30 fps or so instead of a stuttery 11-12 .... not to mention, in my case, frequent fraps lockups :banghead:

But that all seems to be over for us now :applause:. Strange no-one else has reported this issue but I guess not many people here use fraps. Anyway .... it's onward and upward for us from here on in ....

PS .... I always have AA at "none" in cfs3config and the MULTISAMPLE override. My tiny little 9800GTX's AA is set at 8 in "over-ride application" mode. I have to borrow Nurse Glad's tweezers to change settings lol ....
but, as you discovered, it's always a good idea to check occasionally that AA in cfs3config and the default over-rides are in sync.

I seem to be having a similar problem with fraps in my new rig. Can you kind souls explain in step by step wording how you solved it?

Cheers!

Hi Dimus,

Assuming a default install directory for OFF, the easiest way to go about it is this:

Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields and find the XML document called "ConfigOVerridesdw"

Right-click on that document and choose "Open With" and select "notepad" in the dropdown menu.

You should see something that looks like this:

<Config>
<FileVersion val="60"/>
<Adapter val="0"/>
<Device val="0"/>
<Mode val="23"/>
<MultisampleType val="D3DMULTISAMPLE_0_SAMPLES"/>
<VendorId val="4318"/>
<DeviceId val="146"/>
<VersionNumberLowPart val="663558"/>
<VersionNumberHighPart val="393230"/>

Make sure the D3DMULTISAMPLE is set to 0 samples. Mine originally looked like this:

<MultisampleType val="D3DMULTISAMPLE_4_SAMPLES"/>

Simply a matter of replacing the number 4 with a 0, and when you're done, click on "File" in the top left, select "Save", then "File" and "Exit".

You can then set your AA and AF to whatever works best for you at the driver level. Make sure you choose to override the application setting. For some reason the only thing that works for me with Fraps is 16xAF and 8xAA. Weird, but I can live with it. Don't have much choice.....lol.

Cheers and HTH,

Thanks Parky, will try that this evening.:wavey:

I wanted very much to capture a vid of what I'm seeing in OFF on my new rig and show it to my friends at work with pride! I was embarassed to show a video at 7 FPS while I fly at 45.:banghead:

Thanks Parky!!!:applause:

That worked excellent! I recorded a 3 vs 4 dogfight over an airfield at 27 to 30 FPS with fraps at full picture capture using the same settings as yours. Imagine that my card is just an 9600GT512 (budget, budget) but seems to work quite well.

I could not have resolved it without yours and catch22's help.

Thanks again.

Glad it seems to have worked for you! Don't be shy about sharing a clip or two with us....you've no excuses now:applause:

Cheers,

Parky
