This aircraft flew with the US Navy as an R4D-6 before conversion to R4D-8. It was later civilianized as N851M and is still airworthy.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-117D by Manfred Jahn and colleagues in the colors of 17171 of the US Navy, which made an emergency landing in Iceland in 1973. On the 24th of november of that year, the Douglas R4D-8 17171 on route to Höfn í Hornafirði was forced to make an emergency landing at Sólheimasandur due to bad weather conditions at Höfn and low fuel. The landing was successful and the plane suffered no major damages. At the time the US navy was discontinuing it’s use of the Douglas C-47 and instead of repairing it, the plane was stripped of all valuables and abandoned in the black volcanic sand. Since then it’s been a favourite of photographers and adventure seeking tourists.

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-117D by Manfred Jahn and colleagues in the colors of C-117D N306SF (cn 43393) Skyfreighters, 1985. The aircraft was delivered to the USAAF as C-47A-30-DL, 42-23758 with C/N 9620. To the USN as R4D-5 BuNo 12437 then rebuilt to R4D-8. Became C-117D when designations standardized in 1962. Other civil regns include N8538R and N44GH. Served with Blue Angels 1953-55.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX Civilian prop skins

Description: This folder contains a repaint for the Douglas C-117D by Manfred Jahn and colleagues in the colors of C-117D RP-C473 of Soriano Air Cargo of the Philippines, around 1991 (Ex-USAAF 42-23894, c/n 43327, USN BuNo 12443, Aero Union N5597T and Intercoastal Air Ways N873SN), It was later sold to Mabuhay Airlines, also in the Philippines. On 30 august 1999, it was to be flown to Manila for a lease to Crown Cargo Express when it struck power lines. The aircraft crashed into a rice field. Luckily none of the 9 people on board were injured, but the aircraft was a write-off.
