Wow! Nice one.
A question, if I may?
That looks a LOT like an episode we had at the USCustoms Aerostat Site Yuma one night. A news crew was going to "prove" that the aerostat system was worthless by flying in from Mexico, like a drug smuggler would. Drug smugglers were our original, primary, mission. Detecting them, and passing the information over to the Customs service for action, if necessary. They had a Beech 350, and H-60, for intercepts.
Needless to say, we "saw" the Cessna 172 the news crew used to try and show how useless we were by "sneaking" over the border, and Customs intercepted and forced them down withing a very few miles of the border. The news crew's story never aired, oddly enough
We had another episode one night, about 0130. A "light plane", Cessna, Piper, who knows, it was a dark, moonless night, landed in the desert a few miles east of our location. It was met by a vehicle, again, type unknown. All we could see were it's headlights. There were some gunshots, and the plane took off and flew back over the border with Mexico again. The vehicle made it's way back out to US 95, and away. All this was in clear visual range of us.
The next morning, Border Patrol investigated, and found 3 bodies about where the plane and car met. Coincidence? I don't think so, and I still don't.
Lots of sea-stories from that period of my life.
Thank you very much for the pictures. Make them a night time set, and I'd almost think you were there, too!
Have fun all!
