Yes P1 (2005) and P2 (2007) were released for free.
 
If I came across a game forum that was 100% positive I'd be highly suspicious and most likely give the game a miss. Seen enough of that kind of fraudulent tosh on the big-boy sites. "Found a bug? You're BANNED matey!"

I think it's absolutely incredible that a group of people with a common interest banded together to create the first two iterations of OFF over a period of years and then offer up the results of their collective time effort FOR FREE all the while apparently providing tech support along the way as well.

And now after putting in yet another year and a half to create the current OFF 3 edition plus a game update (v1.1) and the upcoming 1.2 update - AND also spending time in this forum offering support is fully deservant of the $50 cost if not more per copy to say the least.

When you consider the collective programming knowledge required to create a flight sim of this quality - aside from the inherent coordination of effort and responsibilities given the different geographical locations of the group from what I gather, well, suffice to say this is a truely impressive result.

Had it not been for the mention of OFF 3 in another gaming forum I would still be sitting here with most of the IL2 series on my system but rarely played because of repetitive boredom.

No doubt there are myriad business and personal related issues involved with partnering with a major publisher that would expand the (1) awareness of OFF 3 and (2) availability. But you guys should seriously consider it if you haven't already. Just a mention in PC Gamer's "Sim Column" could do wonders for your sales vs the slowness and narrow focus of word-of-mouth.

PC Gamer are aware of us - maybe one day they'll feel it's worthwhile ;)
