Pattonville updated.....

not sure how they could make it better but....
...it really is better, believe it or not... I discovered this yesterday, and after a brief period of comparison between version 1.3 and 1.4, I think that I agree that as implausible as it may seem, the total awesomeness that was 1.3 has indeed been improved upon and seceded by a new and improved version 1.4!

The best ever freeware GA airstrip gets better, who would have thought it so!

Thanks for the info! Mike :ernae:

Reminds me a lot of Bill Womack's Plum Island but on a slightly larger scale. Extremely well done.

Goodness!

This is my fave airstrip. How could Sascha get it even more better? Its already brilliant.

I have made the Tailwind (airplane) from the ground up 'testing' it here.. Great airfield.

Note; Stuttgard EDDS is directly south of there, about 10 min's away.

Thanks for the heads up on the update.

Bill: Looking forward very much to release of your tailwind, can't wait.

Can someone tell me what their favorite GA (grass, dirt, etc) airport in the U.S. for FS9 is? I'm always looking for GA stips to fly to/from.

Thanks

Barry

No idea what that space is for. Perhaps to protect your aircraft if Panther is flying in the area?:monkies:

Here's a good real aerial view of the real thing.

What ever it is it must include a lot of :guinness: considering two portajohns for one small area.

Surprising little scenery, well done.
I only seem to get the animation of the gate to work (it whacks the Cessna parked there).

I love it.. Great scenery..

:applause: :medals: :applause:

Thanks Flyboy for posting the aerial pic. Could you imagine having all of that detail in there??? wheww.. lol..

Downloaded, Installed....and Pattonville screwed my FS9 UP! Everytime I start the sim, it adds it to the scenery config...at one point I had 6 entries for Pattonville. Removed every stinking file I could find related to the Pattonville scenery and it still keeps throwing an scenery config error stating that Pattonville could not be found and then adds it to the scenery confg again.

Anyone have any clue how to fix this? I really don't want to have to uninstall FS9, reinstall, then rebuild it to what is was before Pattonville became Amityville (as in Amityville Horror, demonic possession and all that jazz).

1st step - entirely remove it from your FS9 scenery library and close FS9.
2nd step - navigate to your FS9 root folder.
3th step - delete "newscenery.cfg".
4th step - open "scenery.cfg" and delete all references to EDTQ by hand.
5th step - install Pattonville like any other scenery.

I had the same problem - I think that it probably will not happen in the first place if you preemptively delete "newscenery.cfg" after running the install program.

Installer...a strong four-letter word

Obio...school fees!
Given the option, always install to a dummy folder and see what the stoopid thing wants to do, then transfer files into FS manually.

Thanks for the tip...that did the trick.

I usually direct installers to a dumby folder, but with this one I just ran the installer. And I got bit by it. It happens from time to time. Luckily, the SOH members have a collective knowledge of FS9 that seems unlimited.

for ultimate safe-ness, you can also rename your FS9 folder to Microsoft Flight Simulator 9xxx before running any installer. This is because the actual directory is linked to the registry. So even if you direct the installer to a dummy folder, it can still place stuff in your FS9 folder w/out you knowing. FranceVFR does this, as well as a few others (GodZone New Zealand for example). If you rename, the installer will usually make it's own Flight Simulator 9 folder....but your's is safe at 9xxx.

just don't forget to rename it back after you are done moving the files around...

There is a minor but easily fixed error in this scenery. The airport is at 918.8 feet but the runway is at 920 feet. This causes the AI traffic to hover a foot off the ground after they land and head to parking. Just drop the runway to 918.8 feet and it works fine.

Can someone tell me what the area in the screen shot is used for?

It's another marvelous little detail. It's the site for a new building. The four wooden "L" shapes show the operator of the backhoe the corners of the intended excavation for the basement or substructure and the portable toilets are for the construction workers and the dumpster is for construction trash. been to places like that my whole career
