Paul Clawson's SBD-3 Dautless

SOH-CM-2023
I recently converted Clawson's SBD-3 from FS2004. However, The main gear is slanted outward instead of straight down to runway and none of the gear touches the runway. How do I straighten out the main gear? I can get the gear to touch the runway, after I fix this. Is this a conversion problem or is this something I can fix?

sbd-3 part II

Additional info:

Besides the canting of the main gear, they wobble during take-off, and they straighten out when I leave the ground. the gear closes and lowers normally. Is this a conversion glitch or can I fix it?

I've never converted it to CFS 2, but I'll look for it and DL it and see if it has the same issues in FS 9. I guess if it does, there won't be much of a fix for it.

You might try the Donationware (now freeware) SBD3 and SBD5 Dauntlesses for CFS 2. They are absolutely the best Dauntlesses available for CFS 2.

You should be able to find them here in the library.

Nice bomb delivery Shadow Wolf.

I checked the Clawson SBD-3 out in FS 9 and there are no anomolies with it. Those issues must be in the CFS 2 conversion somewhere.

Just for the hell of it, I converted it to CFS2 & it did so just fine. It gives good FRs & IMHO, the dive brakes look better (probably modeled in but I didn't check to see). I just may use it myself. Here is my converted .MDL. I just might contact Putt-Putt about uploading the complete conversion perhaps with a skin or two.

Found a glitch. It CTDs in QC. Doesn't seem to be gauge related, may be 'light states' but MDLC is supposed to cure that problem in the later versions ( I used version 190)..

Thanks OldWheat, the MDl file works perfectly. I was amused by the folding wings, because the SBD's wings did not fold. I used the DP from the Donationware SBD-3 and-5, and it works well, with only a few glitches, such as the firing flashes of the rear guns are lower. I agree with Jagd and Shadow Wolf that the Donationware SBD is superb, but I agree with Old Wheat in What the hell, Clawson's SBD just intrigued me.

I am also handicapped because my MDCL program is on another computer. It is 32 bit while my is 64 bit.It is too much to hope that an Mdcl program has been adapted for the 64 bit.

Keep um flying

Clawson's SBD-3

Thanks for that model file OW. This might make for a nice project and with some skins for the Coral Sea, Midway and other early to mid-war skins it should give us lots of options.

Out of curriosity, I did a search at flightsim.com (search: Clawson, SBD) and came up with two Pre-War skin packs. One for the Navy and one for the Marines as well as an experimental green Pre-War texture. Six skins in each pack.

I'm thinking that with the original stock MS SBD flight, aircraft and DP files, Clawson's SBD might make for a pretty good AI dive bomber.

Strange how that does happen sometimes, even with 190. You'll have to perform a little scasm surgery to clear it out.
