Payakan's He115 floatplane conversion bugs

A good day to everybody!

I recently found over at Flightsim.com Payakan's vere nice Heinkel He115B floatplane for FS8/9 and I took the liberty to convert it to CFS2. The He115 was involved a lot in the 1940 Norwegian German campaign and it filled sea-patrol, anti-shipping and anti-submarine warfare duties over the North Sea until the B&W131 took over.

The only other He115 available for CFS2 is a quite outdated model from Alphasim's oldies.

Unfortunately, the conversion did not carry over propeller animation for the starboard engine, as you can see from the attached screenie. The control surfaces animations are ok, while there's no cockpit nor bomb bay door animation. I could live with the latter, but not with a spinning prop and a dead one.

If anyone can correct this visual problem, I am attaching the converted mdl, while the flight model and dp derive directly from Alphasim's He115 with only very few mods to avoid the plane from dropping down in the water when spawned by Free Flight. Included are my updated propeller textures, plus the propeller blade texture I repainted in Luftwaffe-style solid black (the original has Allied-style yellow tipped prop blades). I hope to come up soon with a wake and splash floatplane effect for this plane.

Moreover, if anyone could also manipulate the converted mdl to get rid of the four gun barrel like tubes sticking out of the wings, the conversion kit could become perfect to fill yet another WWII combat aircraft spot in CFS2.

Thank you!
KH

I had the same glitches with my conversion of the He-115. What we really need is to obtain Payakan's OK to have our way with his models- both CFS2 & FS. He has a whole bunch of very desirable & useful planes that could be made even better with multi-res & other tweaks.

Here you are KH,
Both props now turn and a minor thing is that getting rid of those things?! on the wings leaves small gaps where they were in the ac shadow, but no real prob........

Cheers

Holy smokes, Shessi, you were faster than a greased lightning! :running:

Thank you very much, my friend!

One question regarding this He115 skin: since I never saw before Luftwaffe planes with wing insignias painted in a US style, meaning on just one wing top and underside, is this livery correct or must Luftwaffe crosses and letters be painted on both sides of each wing?

OW:

Absolutely right! Several of Payakan's models could become splendid CFS2 birds with only a few touches here and there. Perhaps Peperez could intercede for us, but he's been really busy lately.

Cheers!

Speaking of conversions there is an Arado Ar240 over at FltSim that when converted the starboard prop does not spin either. Anyone have a workig mdl to fix this?
Thanks,
mcanx

Ahh John, good to hear from you, and I only learned how to from the 'master'...he he..;)

KH, you're most welcome! And no the skin is not correct, balkenkreuz crosses were shown top and bottom. They started off large at the begining of the war and became smaller as time went on. In fact if you look at all German ac markings from the Polish Campaign 1939 to the Reich Defence 1944-45, there's a huge difference in size, complexity and contrast.

Mcanx, attached are two choices of Ar240. One converted as-is, and the other converted and with those huge cannons removed (again only slightly affects the shadow).

Well Jagd, I may have the cure for those leaky floats...Something I've been working on, and getting there. The old Alphasim He115 had a good shape, but was only 98kb(!) in size and had no interior, crew or animations or VC. I've totally revamped it. Now with new engines/naucelles/props, an interior, a crew. I've also made a bomb bay with animated doors and torpedo, made an animated rear canopy/gun and gunner (which I like!), new clothes, and loads of other bits. Just started on the VC, which is going to take a while, watch this space......

Cheers Shessi

p.s Why-oh-why is there never enough time to do the things we really want to do???!!!

He 115

Wow! Now that's a total rebuild of the old girl.

For those unfamiliar with the AS He 115, you can compare these original shots in my sim to Shessi's fresh start to update her.

I agree!!!

.....And no the skin is not correct, balkenkreuz crosses were shown top and bottom.

I figured that much...... is the repaint you posted yours or can it be downloaded?

Yes, I think it was a beginning of the low-visibility concept, adopted also by the R.A.F. with the top wing roundels right before the war started and the change at the end of 1941 of fuselage, underwing roundels and fin flash with thinner yellow and white bands.

HEAR! HEAR! :applause: :applause:

Lovely update work on AS's He115! Are you thinking to upload an update pack sometimes in the future? If yes, thank you in advance!!! :wavey:

Corrected main texture

I mistakingly took Shessi's update of Alpha's He115 for a repaint of Payakan's He115.

So I tinkered a little bit with Payakan's original livery, placing Luftwaffe balkenkreuz crosses where they were missing on the wings and correcting the lettering on the wing underside.

Having no paint scheme to refer to, I did a semi-fictional work, basing it on other aircrafts of the period like UncleTgt's beautiful repaints of GC's FW200 Condor. So, just like the early war Condor skins, now Payakan's He115 CFS2 features the same code letters painted on the fuselage on the wing undersides.

If ya'll think the below can be acceptable enough, do help yourself to the attached main texture file.

Cheers!
