This is another PBY found in "US NAVY PBY CATALINA UNITS OF THE PACIFIC WAR". Seems this guy was making himself quite a target for some A6M Zero. Maybe he just liked being close to the action.

Just a quick update for this aircraft, this PBY-5A was actually the first aircraft to land at Guadacanal, Henderson Field almost after the Marines secured the runway. This PBY belonged to Admiral John S. McCain. The admiral wanted the Marines to know they would be supported so he had his pilot Lt. W.S. Sampson deliver urgently needed supplies. He departed the next morning with two wounded Marines.

Now that's a Catalina that looks like a PBY should. I have no idea why Aerosoft knocked themselves out building so many "ennuchs" with the front turrent circumcised off of it. - It looks terrible!
There were enough PBY's that were flown by so many countries that there is no end of paint schemes to show the war time version. To show this great bird in any other guise is a shame.

what i cant get over is the vast amount of different camo schemes applied :isadizzy:

Thanks Helldiver, my feelings exactly. The varied paint schemes are beautiful but the NAVY versions are my favorites.

Appreciated!

Hey Tom, why not make it available on SOH instead of trying to get through Aerosoft's labyrinth?
By the way, how do you get screenshots to show on your threads? The method they got here seems screwed up.

Thanks Panther, looking forward to when you are 100%.

Helldiver, see your PM but Roger and Barvan40 put me onto Photo Bucket and linking the picture applied here to it. It is free and much better than using my own website and server. Oh by the way I uploaded the COMAIRSOPAC here first. It should show up soon.
