This stuff is fantastic! Unfortunately, real-life has constrained me in that I will be traveling on business for a couple of days and cannot give you a quick beta-test turn-around. A couple of evenings of mowing await me when I get back. I can do longer-term beta testing, I just can't do anything quick right now.

Here is another update just finishing up the mapping on it then I will put it in the game beta should be out later this week if everything goes right hope you all like it, Snoopy is coming along slow got him almost done in the mapping area been working on red cause I like the way he is coming out. Snoopy is going to be out maybe a week after red maybe longer due to the animation and the mapping is a lot more complex than red.

Update!

Red is in the game have a few things to correct like the wheels sunk in the ground and the damage profile and few other little things beta will be ready soon.

won't be releasing it until I figure out the specular mapping have a few more little things that I will be patching up today and will be releasing the beta to the testers today sometime but will not be releasing it until I figure out the specular mapping so it can be out in a few days or a month or even longer. it all depends on the specular mapping hope you enjoy it cause I am not happy with it not getting the look I want so I won;t release it until I get the look I want Sorry. and not bad for a weeks works I think.

Project on hold

not going any further with it until I get this map issue solved if possible so I am taking a break cause I am lost on this specular map thing can't get it to work and I will scratch the project cause I do not like the way they look in the game no shine just a dull paint job and that is not what I want "Sorry for picky" but that is me so until further notice Peanut project is on hold or may be canceled for the final time. and except the fact that I have no clue on what I am doing here

2 ways

1)just open your material editor and under "specular highlights" area you will see an input for specular level and glossiness. increasing specular level # will increase shine. increasing glossiness level makes it look more metalic(narrows the highlight). this way does not use a map

2)if you want to use a specular map then open material editor and expand the "maps" rollout on the bottom. check box "specular level" and use the botton on the right side of that to browse for your red_s specular map. the diffuse color should allready be checked with the map name showing on the right. WARNING: this 2nd approach does not work in some computer setups including mine.

Niether worked so there is no point me going any further if I cannot get it the way I want just going to trash it my computer should show the specular map it is more than enough for this game my lack of knowledge is wwhat is killing it for me and losing all my stuff in last my computer just can't find what I have before so I guess I will just scratch it not worth my head ache. will finish red but scratching snoopy and the other stuff cause I am not happy with the look so instead of getting pissed will just finish red means he is almost done anyway get him ouut of the way and call it a day.

No, no, no! You're too close! Surely someone can help out here, no? We have so much talent...(wish i was one of them...)

I mean, face it, the planes weren't that shiny IRL- - they were fabric... and how shiny is a doghouse? ;)

Just some friendly advice, step away from it for a few days. Check another aircraft, see how it's done... Or if you want, pass it along to another- they are people of honor here, you will receive credit...

Edited to add: I think there is an issue with Windows 7 & spec mapping - you may indeed have it right and Windows 7 is the problem. The *_s.dds files don't work on Windows 7.

yeah, but the 1st method should still work. it will give an even cfs2 style specularity. you could then create a couple of materials with varied spec levels ie one for non-reflective tires.
 
Update!

Still get the basic look no shine just paint my machine is a Asus Quad Core 2.53ghz 1 gig nvidia video card 6 gigs of ram windows 7 x64 so I do not see why it is not working but again M$ has always been good at messing things up that once worked then they don't.

I have went threw the pain of installing Vista on this machine with Winn7 XP would not install guess cause it is a custom Laptop which runs on 7 only and in 64 bit only Got vista installed so we will see what happens there I have a P4 3.00 ghz on stnd by if this dose not work so all hope is not lost yet a few more bucks out of my pocket but that is alright cause some of my future work will be payware so I should break even heehehehehehehehe when I am ready for the payware it will be of a model that everyone wants and the price will be cheap cause I am not out to get rich just pay for the domain can't charge for the time cause I enjoy doing this heheheehehehehehehe no mater how mad I get. so keep in mind I want to build stuff that no one else is doing so private PM are welcome for that enjoy Taz

Crying!!!!!!!!!!!

After 10 hour of installing and reinstalling and installing and reinstalling got XP and Win 7 on this machine and with the help of others got the mos editor working and I think I figured out my shinny problem will let you know

Red Update

Going to be a couple more days before I have anymore updates on him came up with some more ideas so I am reworking some things including the paint scheme starting from scratch on that so it will be a few more days before I post any pictures think you will like the new look my madness is never ending and what I have instore in the future is going to be real fun going to make a bunch of loony tune planes you might say so hang in there the wait will be worth it. now I get to learn how to mess with the mos editor that should be fun.

Just having fun with my dog and red and few other things of madness. Red got reworked just added here and a little there and came up with some more madness looks alot better. will have some picks up later today have to remap the model due to the added stuff.

going to be out of pocket for the next couple of days building me a hanger and already hit myself in head with the hammer once :pop4: and my fingers feel like a crash dummy and to make things worse i dropped my hammer on my big toe OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if this is not a good day then what can i say.

Yes I am in danger zone taz in a weapon hut boy are they crazy adding weapons to red so it will be a few more days before beta will be released plus I am working on my hanger so things are a little slower paced but when it is only you got sleep sometime woke up at 1:00am and been pounding the key board it is now 2:35pm and still going.
