Pearl Harbor Project 2 files have been sent to upload!! README!!

PHP2 Scenery Packs 1-4 have been uploaded for approval. Should be anytime now before they are approved. In the meantime lets note some things.

PHP2 is the latest Pearl Harbor scenery for Combat Flight Simulator 2. It is an attempt to portray the island of Oahu on the very eve of war on the morning of Decemeber 7th, 1941.
This scenery package entails all the technology available to present Pearl Harbor in it's entirety while balancing frame rates.

First download these other important files if you do not already have them:

After the files have been downloaded and installed.... download PHP2 Scenery Packs 1-4

The readme is pretty self explanatory... open the zip.... the file structure should match to where you should only have to copy the folders directly to your particular CFS2 install.

A lot of people have contributed to PHP2 over the years.... roughly 8 years to be exact. Here are people you should all be thanking.

Let me be the first to send you a hearty thank you Crashaz for sharing this. I know this has been in the works for a few years now so I can truly appreciate it's worth to all of us but to me especially. I once had the Flight 1 version many years ago and it didn't compare to the screenshots that you and others have posted here as of late, not even close my friend.

Again thank you very much...plus this is pretty cool too might I add having Pearl scenery! I am considering a new separate install just for this so I can fully appreciate it all...

Thanks p14u2nv!

One thing I did want to mention... ships are not with this release.

I decided on this because I want to see how everyone is doing with their framerates before we introduce the ships. While I get great fps even with the ships... wanted to see how people's machines were doing... then we can make some tweaks based on community input on how much GSL scenery we remove from the custom GSL to make things nice ... we can offer a low-to mid - to high end GSL version.

The version enclosed is the more high end version... eye candy galore.... boy howdy!.... did I want to add more trees in. JefPat stopped me from going crazy...:icon_lol: let see how things go.

Also I want to spend some time with Talon and other mission designers to make sure we deliver the ships with mission friendly objects as well as staying FPS friendly.

The hangars at wheeler also have animated doors. Enough room to turn a small fighter around.

Fantastic!

What a great collaborative effort behind one of the long-awaited releases of '09. Have just downloaded it and wanted to be say a proper 'thank you' before I get too involved in enjoying it!

Cheers

Hi Crashaz,

First let me say "wow really great" Thanks for all the hard work.

Did find one thing though. It looks like a crane. Maybe missing a texture.

Funny thing, when I tried to find out it's name "using the built in GSL editor" every time I tried to select it I get a crash to desktop. I can select other objects around it with no problem.

Regards,

If you guys could post some pics of how it looks on your machine... along with some computer specs and fps report I would be greatful! :wavey:

Great scenery, thank you.I do however have a fps issue.Im running cfs2 on a lap top, intel(R)pentium(R)Dual CPU T2370 @1.73 GHZ 1.73 GHz,2.00 GB,32 bit operating system.Without any more planes or ships added it is slow, about 7fps,but only when i have plenty of ground objects in my screen.I will be upgrading my pc a.s.a.p,but will take a while.how can i improve fps?

Well we have been talking about that.

The best way is to cut down on the amount of objects in the scenery. In other words we create another GSL file for use by those whose computers may suffer from slower fps.

I am open to ideas on how we can futher alleviate the issues other than GSL if anyone has ideas.

Compare framerates @ Pearl Harbor, Wheeler and Kaneohe.

Obviously Pearl Harbor is the busiest... so we might have to make some alternative GSL there... how the other areas though?

Fps

I'm running an Athlon 64 Dual Core Processor 5400+ 2.80 GHz with 2 gigs RAM. Windows XP with service pack 3. I'm getting 28fps on the low end with lots of scenery, and 78 - 90 fps on the high end. Beautiful stuff, BTW. Well worth the wait. Hopefully the ships will be coming soon!

Buy a new laptop

......,I've the same issue with mi MSI laptop I've as graphic card "Mobil intel 965 chipset family" :icon_lol:,intel(R)pentium(R)Dual CPU T2330 1.60 GHz :icon_lol:,good for a normal use but for a heavy game as a flightsim that take a lot of ressource it's a little bit too short .
I have a family home computer with a real graphic card for testing but it's very busy by my wife or my kids and I need to get a ticket to pilot it:bump:
For Christmas I 've got a second home PC only for the games But i've not yet find time to use it ....

"... so we might have to make some alternative GSL there... "
With Dombral we've thought to do a ligthest gsl version of our last project for the small pc config but also for the missions or QC because in first cfs2 is a dogfight game and sometime for some missions the scenery must stay background,in hight altitudes don't need to have a heavy GSL ,it's possible after to deal with the lay file depending of the type of mission.
