Pearl Harbor Project 2 files have been sent to upload!! README!!

I've been traveling for a few days, so I didn't see that the PHP V2 files had been uploaded till tonight. At any rate, congratulatons Crash and to everyone involved in this project. The gestation was long but well worth it.

I did some testing of my missions with the new scenery and got 20fps with 140 planes and about 75 ships in harbor.with the new php2 ships they should be higher.I used the php2 ships I had from about 4 years ago.

Hi Crashaz and all,

That crane without the texture is named "PHP2_Harbor_Crane_2".

I used a hex editor to change it to "PHP2_Harbor_Crane_4".

Attached is the modified GSL file. Just remove the "txt" ext. and use GSLman to reinsert it.

when i save that file it just says gsl, no text suffix to delete. Can someone splain how to so this conversion? i know it is very simple but my system does not seem to attach a txt suffix to the file when i click on it on my desktop.

that is a great frame rate Talon!

Hi CrisGer,

In the "Save as" window. del the ".txt" from the file name then save it.

It will save as a ".gsl" file.

B24Guy

CrisGer if I understand you correctly the ".txt" extension is not showing right? I think you will need to do the following;

Under Vista (and XP if memory serves me) Go to Settings > Control Panel > Folder Options > View

and simply uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types."

I believe that will help you in the future.

Frame Rates

Crashaz Excellent! BZ :medals: You had asked for posting on frame rates; Here is mime;

sorry my file format still is not changing, i changed the settings to show file extensions, i will wait for the updated upload, but thanks for trying. No matter what i do, the Save As only shows the file name as GSL and in the file type it says text but changing that to All does not change anything, and the file on my desktop also says gsl as the extension but it is a text file. :) glad you got the fix done tho, and i will look forward to seeing that nice crane in all its glory when the new files are uploaded.

Chris ... I had the same problem ... and I think you are 99% there.

After you hit SAVE ... you need to remove BOTH the ".txt" and the " [1]" ... I did that to mine and it shows up inMy Docs as a zip file ... unzipped ... it's a true GSL file now.

God, I hope this helps you because I KNOW how frustrating it gets!:pop4:

I can't convert it either. With XP it was easy, but with Vista it's a no go. Sometimes with Vista you can "Save As" and get rid of the .txt, but in this case the computer says it's a .txt file but there is no way to delete the .txt as it's invisable.

Does anyone know how to have Vista show the hidden extension? With XP it was Tools > Properties > Show common Extensions, but I've got no "Tools" option in the Vista menu.

I don't think that you need to upload files as a .txt document anymore. Can you try attaching the texture file as a .gsl?

Thanks. I'm dumping Vista as soon as this lap top wears out.

Jag I view Control Panel under Classic View for starters. That may make a difference as to see where you need to go/what to do more easily perhaps. I'm not one for all the bells and whistles so it's all Classic Windows for me and it certainly got rid of the learning curve for me. No bells/whistles means more hp for CFS2 and FSX anyway.

Under Vista 64 bit for me; Go to Settings > Control Panel > Folder Options > View

and simply uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types."

Lastly did you save it as "all files" versus a "txt" file under file name labeled as Save as Type?

ok i got it to save correctly with my XP finally, just had to delete the [1] but leave the gsl extension and be sure to change from text file format to All Files :)

thanks Bill :)

and that is nice flying, you are right down there at waterlevel :) hope the Harbourmaster does not get your tail number :)

The [1] means that you have at least one other file with that same name somewhere on your pc, if even on an external hard drive labeled with another drive letter is all. Multiple dloads trying to save it is all. I have had that happen many times when I do back ups of files.

I looked intt the files as well.

There are a few textures missing for the ...Crane_2:

REDR.BMP
CRNEBODY.BMP
CRNEBOTTOMLG.BMP
LGCRNESIDE.BMP

So, either adding these textures or replacing the crane with another one will solve the problem.

Hope it helps

JAGD ... if you want it ... let me know and I'll send the new GSL file to you.

CHRIS ... if you think that crane shot was an example of "flathatting" ... check out this shot!

Just some "brownshoe" out to show the Army pukes what flying REALLY looks like!

(Somebody's gonna' get his you-know-what in a ringer and will be deskbound for a LOOOOOOONG TIME!):pop4:

Bill,

Thanks for the offer, but with P14's tips, I've got it figured out.

Thanks P14!

I won't be able to fly over PH for sometime yet, but I like to keep my library updated so that when I get home, I can drop them in my PC and go.

Nice screen shot by the way. Is that Bellows Field?

Wow Bill. Commander Boynton wants to see you in his office on the double, when you land, IF you land....and IF you don't bend the bird, and IF you want to fly ever again! :)

that is great flying btw. :medals: Hope you enjoy the KP duty!
