Pease Air Show

There an Air Show at Pease International Tradeport, the former SAC base.
The Blue Angels are appearing. But what is strange is they are charging $25 bucks per person and $10 bucks for parking. Plus an extra $25 bucks for the photo pit.
Now it has always been my understanding that the Blues would never appear where there was a charge for admission.
I have been to 20+ airshows and have never been charged an admission.

That was always my impression also. And the USAF Thunderbirds used the same rule.

Have things changed that much in our government?? Not good.

What did you expect from the Obama administration. I Never payed an admission; always paid for parking. I believe it is because Pease is not a military base any more.
Last weekend Barnes ANGB (home of the 104th TFW) had 300.000 people at their show. No admission fee, 5$ to park. T-Birds were there I believe.

That is odd. Never been charged to the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds either. Hope it's not a sign of things to come.

for several years there has been an airshow at mather field...the old mather airforce base..home to sac B52s,,it is the california capitol airshow,sacramento..they charge 12 dollars to get in with a 5 dollar parking fee...both the blue angels and thunderbirds have performed many times..3 times each i believe..this year it is a F22 demonstration group...but like i say..both teams navy and airforce have been there many times each and they charged

Are you guys reffering to the Blues & the Thunderbirds performing for free at military bases? Because I've been going to air shows since I was 3 and have yet to go to a "free" one....

Last year at my local airshow at Hillsboro, I saw the Thunderbirds. I had to pay for my fiance, but I got in free (as I am a vet).

When I went to the show at Eielson AFB when I was stationed there, I don't recall paying.

you have to pay for tickets at all airshows over here, helps cover the cost of the show itself.

$25 per person is pretty standard for shows that are sponsored by corporations. These shows will usually have either the thunderbirds or the blue angels. Air Shows that are sponsored by the military and hosted at military bases should be free of an entry fee -- you've already paid it in taxes.

Chris

Correct you are

I would be grateful when you could leave you local political comments out of this global flightsim forum!

Thank you,
Huub

I've noticed the last couple years at the Alliance Air Show north of Fort Worth, Texas, there was no admission charge, just parking. However, there was about a 10 foot high wall at the edge of the grass except that the extreme south end of the runway. To get beyond that wall (to get decent photos of the flying) had a charge, either $10 or $20-$25 dollars. If it wasn't for the Horsemen coming this year, I'd probably miss it.

Our local Setoma Club has an airshow every two years. They charge. Money goes to bring in acts and chairty. They charged when Presidents Clinton and Bush were in office and they charge now.

I agree with the others. The political comment was uncalled for and out of place.

i shoulda added..when Beale has thier bi-annual open house..its allways free ,,they have either the thunderbirds or the patiroits,,,,L39s....or 29s...not the T tail..the one with the normal tail....lol......imma dork i know:jump:

The show, which ran through Sunday, was sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire and Daniel Webster Council of Boy Scouts of America. Proceeds from the event will benefit the two organizations.
I watched from Great Bay in my boat.....

Oshkosh has been that way for many years. You pay to get in and you also pay to get past the fence to where the planes are parked. Being a member of the EAA definitely helps with the discounts.

Also, I normally don't plug things like this, but the newly redone EAA Sport Aviation Magazine that comes with your membership is worth the cost of membership alone.

LOL
