Well, they are what they are. The Maint Buildings are metal frame, wood slat, flat roof boxes. Now if you stop and think for a second you'd realize that beyond being 9 square boxes you have a 9 piece "Erector Set" with 9 different shaped pieces to combine into composite buildings....
Take a No#1 and a No#4, stick them together, you've got an L or a T shaped building..... Take one of the Open Bay Workshops and add a No#1 for an office, or a Big No#9 with a small outdoor shop..... Endless possibilities. Think Outside the Box...

Now on the height. All of the peaked roof buildings are at least 12' at the gutter. The flat roofs are 15'. For unlifted single story buildings in the late 30's and 40's that's actually a bit high. These are forward area buildings, not something you'd see at Pearl. Very Basic and primitive. :rapture:

Dog1, having spent 26 years knocking around the world looking at and "rehabbing" WWII bldg. I must concur with Pen32Win on his mythology/construction. Think of the logistics, construction man-hours and short life-span of the facility.

The bldg's look correct to me. Hope this help you in your quest for the correct facility's.

Keep up your great work's

A number of my family were all over the Pac during the WWII, and Gerry was a USN Dockmaster among other things and intimately involved with base construction, and use on Guam, Tinian, Espiritu S, and many more...and he used to call those buildilngs 1 day wonders, cause the SeeBees and his guys had to put em up fast sometimes, esp if there was a base expansion for a big push....the top brass (the guys with the Eagle S *** hats) wanted things done yesterday at the lastest..... and he was amazed yrs later when he went back, many of em were still standing and being used. :) ironically the Japanese built to last, and they put a lot of concrete and rebar into their base faciities and many of them serve to this day as schools, hospitals, clinics and more. Pen's series are really well done from what i can see and will make just about any base set up ....he has the artists touch with this stuff i think. As do many here. Great to see ...
