Piglet's OS2U-3 rear canopy doesn't open in CFS2 rework

How come?

The original readme from Piglet's FS9 version says that SHIFT+e+2 key-combo opens the aft canopy.

Unfortunately this no longer seems to be the case in the CFS2 conversion.

This seems to be case both for Buddha13's 2005 CFS2 conversion and for Allen's 2012 conversion.

Poor rear gunner just sits there, hands folded neatly in his lap.

Is he doomed to fly forever without firing a shot?

Some model have thing set to things like the Spoiler or Concorde nose keys.
 
I've tried everything I can think of: G, shift+G, H, Shift+H, shift+E, shift+E+2, W, shift+w, N, shift+N, D, shift+D, B, shift+B,shift+C, ...

No joy.

Should said that's what i did .... on my version..... tried lookin for it... must of lost it... it's been years i since i done it..... found other junk tho
 
Given a Bit Of Time

Hi Chris,

Just D/L the newest version of Piglet's OS2U-3. It has beaching gear (wheels) on the pontoons.
With some scasm edits, was able to get the front and rear canopies to open with the normal cfs2 Shift + C.

Only issue is the 30 cal and observer were never originally animated at the point of its design. He's still reading a map and the MG is stowed.
So he may be doomed to fly forever without firing a shot. :untroubled:

If you like, give me a couple of days and I'll clean some other things up and have a new *.mdl.

It should be the 2005 conversion.
I did a search and could only find the 2012 version.

I may have done some MDL work on it. I can't recall.
The AC folder is called "Kingfisher".

Here is my MDL if that helps.

Thanks for sending the mdl file.

I swapped it in and it opened the rear canopy for sure but I lost all texturing and the lines of the AC became noticeably different. A lot more rounding of the lines where the different moving surfaces came together.

Did some looking through my old files.

Turns out "Kingfisher" is the 2005 conversion of Paul(Putput)Clawsons Kingfisher. Also done by Buddha13. Its the one with 9 textures included?

The pack I am having issues with is Buddha13's 2005 conversion of Piglets 0SU-3- 2 textures, a USN and an RN.

Its gets a little confusing keeping track. There is also a 2012 conversion of Piglets by Allen (also with a non-opening rear canopy).

Hi MR,

You are correct the one I have is Paul Clawsons Kingfisher.
I only paid attention to the AC and not the creator. My mistake.
I'll DL Allen's conversion and see what I can do. It should be fairly easy to link the canopy to a function.

I don't think I did any thing but fix the panel to stop the Win7+ panel lock up and add a panel of my own that is closer to the VC layout.

Yes, there is.

There are actually two versions of Buddha13 2005 conversion floating around. Both are named OS2U-3.zip.

One, the earlier one without the beaching gear, is 5.58MB in size.
The other with the beaching gear is 7.25MB in size.
There is also an update to the texturing of the beaching gear named OS2Utexmods.zip (this may be an FS9 only add-on but I don't think so).

There is another rework done by Allen in 2012. It is named OS2U-3_KINGFISHER_CFS2.zip.

I think all are available here at SOH.

I was thinking about the machine gun also.
I hope that it is made to anamate. Have not found it yet.
I did get the spoilers to anamate and the cowling lever in the vc anamated.

Still 3 anamations I have not had any sucess with.
