Pilot's face !

Hello everyone!
Have you ever had the feeling to know someone without remembering where or when you have met him before ?
That's what happened to me with a pilot I found in one of my FSX cockpits...
Does anybody have an idea why the pilot's face is the same in different developers products ? (just a question, seems a fine pilot to me!)

Since I know MilViz did the actual model of the corsair and P-38, that would explain using the same pilot. I assume that is the case with the X1-A,. even though I am not aware of who released this one.

Oh thanks for that, might explain it further as Xtreme prototypes did the lear 20 series and I remember Gibbage talking about knowing the developer of it and helping, so that might explain it since a good pilot figure is a precious commodity, LOL.

Any time you see this pilot (in an American/Allied) WW2 plane, that means we (Milviz) made it.

We don't use real faces because of the copyright issues.

Thanks... it was built and painted by Gareth Hector... (look him up on the net if you want to see some absolutely stunning artwork and he uses our models sometimes too!)

Very cool! I spend a bit of time at CGSociety and I am very familiar with his artwork.

Many people do not understand a lot of the issues that face developers (sorry for the pun)

One can get into SERIOUS trouble with faces in particular, leading to all sorts of nightmares including civil suits.

Even if one uses a real pilot, the family of the deceased (if a Wartime pilot who has moved on or shot down and killed) can sue for damages.

It is a perfectly good reason for devs to stick to a pilot they have created and therefor obviously own the copyright.

That's why most devs have their "pet"pilot. :engel016:

I forgot this one! My friend, the WWII pilot, flies the Vertigo Studio F6F Hellcat as well! :ernae:
In case you'd hesitate to purchase such or such add-on, I'd say : if you see this face in the cockpit, Go for it!
