Piper in Yellow and Black

You can have a Piper in any colors you want, as long as they are yellow and black. That should be the motto for Piper aircraft. For some reason, Pipers look best in Yellow and Black. From the J-3 Cub to the P-11 Cub Special, from the P-18 Super Cub to the P-22 Tri-Pacer....Pipers just look good in Yellow and Black.

And to bring another Piper into harmony with the Yellow and Black universe, I have done a repaint of Brian Gladden's P-20 Pacer in a nice Yellow and Black scheme. This is an entire inside and outside restoration...lots of added details to the outside, enhanced interior trim, heck, I even got rid of that multi-color striped sweater the pilot was wearing....nothing quite as horrible as a sweater...especially a multi-color striped one.

As soon as I finalize the effects and lights on this plane, I will upload this new skin, along with what I hope to be a very cool exhuast effects package (not sure if the CFS2 exhaust effect I have in mind will work in FS9...if it does I will be using it on all my piston powered FS9 planes...neat multicolored exhaust flame and a nice stream of engine exhaust smoke...all from one effect file).

Here are some screen shots I took just a few minutes ago. This will be my personal P-20 Pacer, but I will let you folks enjoy it as well...my Mommy taught me to share, so dang it I'm sharing.

I am 98% sure these files will work on Brian's P-22 Tri-Pacer and P-22 Super Pacer as well...will confirm later today.

Yes, the pilot is now wearing a long sleeve T-shirt with a vintage American Gasoline logo on it. I love vintage gas signs and logos...have a nice collection of them in digital form to use for skinning purposes.

At one time Lockheeds and de Havillands were the most numberous planes in my collection....Piper has now become the company with the most reprsentation in my GA collection...well, I am pretty sure...will have to take a census to confirm.

Hence my comment my friend, the color choice makes it a classy addition :applause:

It's nice to see this one roll out of the paint booth.

I've been contemplating a reformat of my sim drive. I like the older stuff in GW3. Reminds me when I was younger, fewer houses, lesser traffic, not as hard to find a place to relax.

Nope, I'm not old. Just old schooled. And the finer things in life, are the times past.

I've been to the GW3 site. I've downloaded most, if not everything some time back. I haven't noticed anything new as far as scenery goes. Are people still actively expanding that era? I'd hate to think there's no more involvement of those great times as a kid.

you might like going to flightsim and avsim for more gw3 stuff. Type in golden wings and gw3 for starters. Then type in every year from 1920-1940. You'll find some interesting stuff. Also here at SOH Cees Donker has ww2 airfields in England and he's added gw3 afcads for some of them. Leon Louis has many short hops on both sides of the US and Canada that fit very well into that period.

I have the final tweaking done to Brian's P-20 Pacer, have applied the same paint to his P-22 Tri-Pacer and P-22 Super Pacer. I changed the N numbers on the Tri-Pacer to N611DJ (My wife's birth day and initials), on the Super Pacer to N70304 (the date we got married) to coincide with the N422TD (my birth day and initials) on the Pacer. Have the exhaust effects and engine exhaust smoke in place, a second VC light added to the rear of the cockpit on all three planes, landing lights (the stock ones) added to the three planes. I also made a slight adjustment to the panel config file.....I find it easier to trim a plane if I have a trim gauge to look at while applying trim adjustments. There was a trim gauge in the VC, but it was hidden behind the steering wheel thingie...so I moved it to the left and made it larger for better visibility.

I need to get everything packaged up and zipped. Will get it uploaded sometime this evening or tonight. Will have all three paints in one package....so it might be a bit on the bigger size.

She looks like a Beautiful piece of work!

Of course being a Steelers Fan the Black and Gold is near and dear to my Heart even if you insist on calling it Yellow and Black. :icon_lol:

I also really like the Red and Cream color scheme on the Pipers. :applause:

The package is uploading now. This package covers Brian's PA-20 Pacer, PA-22 Tri-Pacer and PA-22 Super Pacer. Effects, lights and panel tweaks included. Please read the Read Me file!

I keep getting a dead link in the soh library to download these textures. I was able to download 3 of the entries above it. Anyone else having troubles?

EDIT: After a dozen attempts...nada. BTW, each attempt added a download to the totals.
Swapped IE6 to Firefox and pulled the download without a hitch.

WTF?

Try downloading with Firefox instead of IE. Actually, if you are using IE, use Firefox for EVERYTHING.

Hi

The bounces on landing of the PA-20 Pacer are not so funny on landing (at least on my FS2004 install) :(

I reduced greatly the bounces to a reasonable behaviour on a normal landing with this modification of the contact points: :)

point.0 = 1, -12.532, 0, -1.095, 1195.472, 0, 0.32, 50, 0.169, 2.5, 1.177, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0
point.1 = 1, 2.4652, -3.0829, -4.15, 1497.344, 1, 0.7, 0, 0.475, 2.5, 0.874, 0, 0, 2, 0, 0
point.2 = 1, 2.4663, 3.0829, -4.15, 1497.344, 2, 0.7, 0, 0.475, 2.5, 0.874, 0, 0, 3, 0, 0

I suspect it must be the same problem for the 2 other Piper's (not yet had time to test)
Will edit this post if I made corrections for those 2 other planes.
