I finally painted up the plane my father flew in WWII. He was an liaison pilot (artillery spotter) for the 86th Infantry's Artillery Division.
The 86th entered combat in Feb.1945 during the battle for central Germany, crossed the Rhine at Cologne, had advanced
to Bavaria and was in Berchtesgaden on May 6. My father was awarded the Air Medal.
I still have section of fabric covering from his plane - with two bullet holes.
