Pitts S-1 Special by Addictive sim

Thanks Gajit.
...All these repaints are getting me a little whacked. I've caught myself trying to rotate pictures on web pages several times!!

Yep - it does get to you afer a while. Keep up the great work

WIP

The darker paints make things a bit tougher. It's coming along...slowly.

Thanks. Yeah, this one is a little tough on the eyes to do. It's like working in a black hole. I have to keep turning off the base color so I can lay it out. Slow but sure.

Thanks Gajit.
...That is likely my last paint scheme due to lack of interest in the forum. And no other schemes are interesting enough for me to bother with.:salute:

Hi - yes that happens. I have noticed a slower than normal download numbers for my schemes compared to other addons - OK it might be a matter of taste when it comes to colours etc but as you say, the interest is not hot.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful creations.

If you want a new challenge - try painting the new Aerosoft Airbus - I have a scheme that has 7 line breaks allong the fusalarge to line up!! Almost done it.

I enjoy doing the repaints. But the amount of people that responded when the plane was first released compared to who's replied since you and I started splashing paint is absurd. I'm painting it for my benefit to get the most bang for my money spent so I can enjoy it as long as possible. I don't have a machine that can run FSX for chit. So I have to enjoy it some how.

As for painting something else as you mention, don't you need to have purchased the plane to paint & view it? Them big sleds are not my cup o tea. But I can rightfully say I can paint most anything thrown at me.

I've got other Pitts schemes to do. More intricate that will take some time. But those I'll keep to myself

Oleboy, as I don't have this model, I have not reacted on the images of the repaints. However after reading your last comment I feel the need to react. Not on your repaints but on your comment about the lack of reactions on your repaints and the low amount of downloads.

Over the years I have made quite a few repaints. In my experience the number of downloads is not always in line with the reaction you get on images posted from the repaints. But are those reactions and is the number of downloads really that important?

When I speak for myself, in most cases I make repaints which I personally like to have and occasionally I make something somebody requests. So when I would not have made a particular repaint I would not have the repaint I would like have and when I make something on request I'm already sure at least one person appreciates it.
Next to that I simply enjoy making repaints.

Over the years I have noticed many people find the number of downloads very important. However there are many things which have an influence on these numbers. For instance when you make a repaint for a payware mode, the number of downloads is already limited because only a limited number of people have this model. I recently uploaded some repaints for a model for which over a hundred repaints are already done. Therefore I don't expect many people to download these additional repaints.

Which leaves the question why upload them? Well in my case because I like to share. And when there is just one single person who downloads my repaint who is pleased with it, it has been worth all the efforts of the upload process for me. And the pleasure of this one person has more value for me than a 1,000 downloads which aren't looked at a second time.

I realise it is a personal thing, but I thought I should share my thoughts.

Cheers,
Huub

Hey I tink your repaints are great Ole Boy (especially that last one) but I don't have the model either.

Im keen to get it but its a bit pricey for me ..maybe if there is a sale one day...

Well, I for one enjoy all the repaints and I've said so time and time again. Anyone who paints these aircraft as you do have real talent that I lack, and enhance the entire simming experience.

Sorry if this is a little off topic. Perhaps we need to discuss the whole issue of repaints in general in another topic.

Sorry to hear you're not going to share your future work. :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

To be honest there already plenty of repainters out there and far too many repaints for any one hard drive anyway. Some people thought the world would end when Yago9 took his ball home for example or when Banana Bob took some time out but since then others have appeared and everyone is still happy. Personally I'm much more interested in having one or at most two HD quality paints with a replacement prop disc than 1000 mediocre variants of the same add on but that's just me.

Sad to think repainting is a numbers thing

I have downloaded and flown your paints, OleBoy, and I appreciate every one. All the painters sharing their artwork here have me on the verge of trying it myself. My interest leans strongly toward warbirds but the colors sold me on this little Pitts. The colors you painted. Think for a minute, numbers, it is just about numbers?

BTW, thank you for Lil Stinker. The historical aspect of that paint makes all others pale.

I understand what your saying Aviator but I still (even with over 90 repaints under my belt) cannot replicate the excellence of Yago9 and Banana Bob.

I paint what I like for myself first and just share after if I think they are reasonably good - OK its nice if people post that they like them but once I have completed a paint I dont really care. its the next one that I care about. Some I paint i am so sick of looking at that I never fly them again myself - like some of the ones I did in the early days for the excellent Lotus Albatros.

At least 15 paints i have spent hours and hours on have not been shared as they are crap.

I guess what I am saying is that repainters would do well not to take themselves to seriously.
or expect the world to plead them to keep around. I know if I dont paint a scheme for something someone else, and in all reality someone better - will do it anyway. :ernae:

I don't paint for numbers. I paint because I enjoy it. What I mentioned previously has to do mainly with my interest. There's just not much more out there that catches my eye. The way I see the whole picture is, that by people doing any repaint of any said model, gives recognition for (granted more variation for the ones who like that particular model) someone else liking the model enough to repaint it.
....I look at repaints in a way that they benefit the developer to increase awareness of potential sales now and in the future. Times the way they are don't make things any easier. I enjoy the little Pitts. I enjoy it more having a choice which beauty I roll out of the hanger because I like to fly in style. Knowing that I did the repaint makes me enjoy flying that much more.

I appreciate all the comments.

Your repaints OleBoy are fantastic...:salute:
and gajit don't you dare underestimate your paints...:wavey: if there's a certain Developers aircraft you painted and I have that Aircraft I have one or more of your paints

Thank you to all the painters out there...your part of the fun and excitement of this hobby
