Pitts S-1 Special by Addictive sim

Indeed, the community would not be complete were it not for the efforts of the many re-painters involved.

I for one value each and every paint. My pet Pitts has been dressed nicely, multiple times!
:ernae:

I too would like to take the opportunity to thank the repainters....your work is truly appreciated.:salute: In saying that..I've not flown the Pitts for a while (since Tim released the Porter) but I'll remove the virtual dust covers and take it for a hop next time I fire up the sim. :)

Your repaints OleBoy are fantastic...:salute:
and gajit don't you dare underestimate your paints...:wavey: if there's a certain Developers aircraft you painted and I have that Aircraft I have one or more of your paints

Thank you to all the painters out there...your part of the fun and excitement of this hobby

N51RG close to final approach

I added a bit more shine than the previous shots. I wanted to see the vibrance in the blue & gold. Almost done with the nose.

The actual base color is black on the RW Pitts. I've been playing with the darker midnight-blue shade.

More WIP

I've enhanced visuals a bit further. More adjusting and modifying and overall cleaning up.

I added the trim pieces to the struts where they attach to the wings.
adjusted the rivets on the nose for alignment in the stripes.
removed a few ill placed rivets on the top nose cover.
alpha'd out the registration and all labels.
completely redid the graphics on the wheel pants and removed the inside diamond.
added a bolt head on the wheel pants to appear proper.
moved the reg#s forward
experimenting with some forms of graphics on the underside

**On all my other repaints the string on the sight thingy was animated with the prop spinning. It's not now. I think some how the darkness of the layer has something to do with it and I need to find it on the template so I can alpha it out in hopes that it re-animates. I haven't a clue where the heck it is though. Something I need to fix before I release the paint.

Not uploaded as of yet. More tweaking. I currently have 5 schemes all going at the same time. I never get bored that way.

Here's a WIP of a nice little racer scheme.

excuse the interruption...but as a user of the 'senior sim' fs9, how would I get those nice paints
to work in there, I mean they're a different format and file size correct?

Open each of the texture files with DXTBMP.

Once displayed, (on top)

choose image,
flip image and alpha,
save as extended bitmap,
And in the drop-down, save as DXT3
=Done.

Do this to all textures in (my) the repaint folder. As for Gajits, I think it's the same procedure.

This is my process......

1. Extract the main texture folders to a temporary folder.
2. Open each with DXTBmp, and invert.
3. Extract the main texture to your paint editor program. (I use Paint Shop Pro 6 I got on eBay for $30.00 several years ago). Resize the bitmap to 1024 X 1024, SAVE IT, then import it back into DXTBMP. Don't save it yet.
4. Do the same for the Alpha layer. Extract, resize, SAVE IT and import back into DXTBmp.
5. Now save in DXT 3 format. The final size should be 1024 X 1024 in size.
6. Repeat this for the next two files. There are three in all.
7. Now copy the three converted files to a folder in teh aircraft folder with the proper texture.name.
8. Go to the main texture folder and copy those files to the new folder, being careful not to overwrite what you just edited.
9. Make your entry into your aircraft.cfg file.

This is the result and how it turned out for FS9.

I guess I forgot a few steps huh!! Sorry for that. I forgot about the export/resize/import. It's been awhile since I did any FS9 work.

Anyone know how to grt the rope? on the aerobatic sights on the left wing to flow in the wind with SP1 ???

That's been bugging me forever. Prior to SP1 it was fine. After the update was applied, no more movement.
.....I mentioned that to Dan just the other day. He hasn't gotten back to me yet.
