Plane Add-ons Limit

I know that the subject of adding planes beyond the ninety or so has been brought up before, and I really do apologize for ragging on this again, but I don't remember seeing a positive yes or no answer on the subject.
With the great number of CFS2 planes out there, I don't care for the idea of taking some planes out of the game and then adding others.
If someone has figured out a way to add more planes beyond the limit without taking out those already there, please let me know.
Thanks,
Don

The holy grail....

This has prevailed as one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in this sim. Somewhere imbedded deep within the sim's programming is this limitating bug that just won't quit, connected somehow to the central database management system. And the actual limit seems to vary with each man's individual machine. You can have only 50 aircraft folders and 50 aircraft actual and still get this error message if you have a lot of bases, ships, scenery mesh files and other weapon and vehicle addons installed. So, no one outside of the original MS development camp can say with any certainty what quantity triggers the bug.

I haven't tried it myself, but the only workaround created so far that actually allows unlimited items in your aircraft folder was made by SDC. But this tweak also has a trade-off effect that kills the use of mission builder, which i personally enjoy having access to, so it's a no-go for me. I'd rather have my MB and just keep manually swapping aircraft in and out of the aircraft folder. There may be other residual effects also which escape me at present, but the MB thing is my chief concern. Others may have more info on this utility.

Martin Wright's ACMan and Shipman utilities allow you to create additional hangars and docks to swap items in and out with a few clicks. That's as good as it gets if you want to retain MB usage.

Don,

Check out Morton's CFS2 Utility: It is an excellent way to solve this problem. At last count, I've got some 350 aircraft and 200 ships in my "all encompassing CFS2" installation. Scenery, airbases, infrastructure addons out the wazzoo. It all runs great for free flight and quick combat.

For mission builder, I have four other installations - I use early and late war USAAF and USN installations. (Strictly PTO) Yes, they all contain aircraft from both services, but they favor one or the other. If I'm going to use MB, I just fire up the MB in that particular installation, create the mission, then copy the .mis and .dyn files to my all-encompassing install, which is what I usually fly in, because as it's name suggests, it's all-encompassing. Easy.

The utility makes it unbelievably easy to keep your theaters of war organized and below the limit for purposes of mission building. Two mouse clicks to make any changes you want to. Total flexibility - if I don't have what I need in the install I'm working in MB with, I just grab it from another install and junk a plane I'm not using with one mouse click. And it's still there, just greyed out, so I can re-activate it when I want to.

Morton's utility also keeps your quick combat file updated, which is a major PIA without using this utility.

Did I mention it will let you know what you're missing in any campaign or single mission as far as planes or ships?

I too like Morton's CFS2_util and use it often. The one bug I have found in it is that sometimes, not always, it will add about 25-30 empty lines in the QC file and makes CFS2 CTD. Once you delete the extra lines with notepad, it works fine again.
