Planes of Fame N9M destroyed in crash. Pilot killed.

The pilot was the highly experienced warbird pilot and mechanic David Vopat, who has flown the N9M (and other vintage aircraft/warbirds) for many years. An absolutely tragic loss.

Living in SoCal I've seen that aircraft fly many times going back several decades. Even worse to hear about the pilot.

Going back home to San Diego for grand daughter's graduation first week of June. Was hoping to see the N9MB, as well as visit the Planes of Fame museum.

RIP, David Vopat. Sympathies to your family.
