Plat camera view?

Navy Chief

Senior Member
I keep forgetting to ask this. Occasionally someone will post a video they've made, and oftimes there'll be a view from the "Plat Camera". What program provides this? It looks SO realistic! Really brings back memories of sitting in the Ready Room, watching flight ops!

Thanks. NC

The PLAT camera is a gauge designed for use in the SF Carrier 2 multiplayer mission. The crosshairs and text come from the gauge, and the viewpoint is created through the mission. Its purpose was to allow players in the session to act as LSO.

Other PLAT cameras in flight sim videos are probably added in post production.

SF? And what gauge are you referring to? Thanks. NC

The gauge is included with the mission, but is also available as a separate download here: http://simviation.com/1/find-file?fileId=4908. I believe a version of the PLAT Camera gauge is also included in the Combat Hornet, Sludge Hornet, and FSX Blue Angels Hornet. SF Carrier 2, 2.5, and San Diego NATOPS Carrier Mission support the PLAT camera viewpoint.
