Hello Javis, sorry to hear about your computer troubles. That can happen and it's one of those things you don't want to think about too much. Glad you are back up and running. I just finished a flight in the DC-6 in FS2024 and haven't flown the Connie in a few days, but tomorrow I will and listen to the sounds more closely. PMDG sounds are great and they did a great job with them. I did notice that there are no wheel sounds when you land in the Connie, well as least I don't hear any, compared to the DC-6. They are there in the sounds.xml file for you to read, but I don't hear any? There is also a texture issue with the Connie, especially at low sun angles.
I really like looking and reading about old airplane pictures with captions describling in detail what you are looking at. Getting that CD full of hi-res Connie pictures must have been a treat. We definately need a L-749 in FS2024 and I did mention it to PMDG on their DC-6 forum, but didn't get much of a positive response, unfortunately. They did give us the DC-6 which I am very grateful, but it would be nice if they cooled it a bit on the jetliners and spent a little more time on producing another propliner. I mean who needs 4 different versions of a B737-600,700,800,900 and the same go for the 777.
Hey Ed, yes it's what their fanboys want and there must be a LOT of 'em ! Must say, next to the DC-6 of course, i have very much enjoyed their 737 and 747 in FSX and before so i guess i'm a bit of a fanboy myself. ;-) I mean, in those FS9/FSX days no other dev could've realised such a superb masterpiece as their DC-6 (i've seen boss Randazzo speak of a DC-3 a couple times too....? ;-). With our 2 new amazing flightsims on steroids i think we cannot be sure who will maybe surprise us with an all dancing and singing vintage propliner. For one thing i am mighty interested to see Mike's DC-4 in FS2024 ! ( Flight Replicas ).
Too much on my hands atm to seriously look into the RW Connie, but looking forward to it. I was quite a bit surprised earlier loading it into FS2024 for the first time so hopefully there's more to come. I still have to deal with the fact that i think the Connie is "something else", something extremely important to me, and i believe i can only be really satisfied with a digital model of the Connie that can easily stand next to the PMDG DC-6 on the virtual tarmac (preferably NOT in the shadow.. ;-).Just my opinion of course, but way too much time and effort into the jetliners. I hope that one day they will announce a L-749, which is an iconic airplane as are all Connies, and certainly before I take that last flight westward, OMG. But for the time being we have the RW Connie and they are working hard to update it and it will be great when it's ready for FS2024. I fly it in FS2024 already, along with the DC-6 without too many serious issues.
I agree with the vibrating prop spinners in the RW Connie. Not sure why they did that, but like you said it doesn't do it any favors. RW has very nice smoke effects when the engines start. All in all I really like their Connie and am very happy we at least have it and a DC-6 to fly around. On another note, I did fly the Aeroplane Heaven DC-3 but didn't think it flew very well, looked good but didn't fly well. Have you spent any time in the DC-3?
Well, i think i can say i *lived* DC-3 for quite a few years, Ed. Me and a dutch colleague were at home at the DDA hangar at Schiphol,Amsterdam (Dutch Dakota Association) crawling in and out, over and under their 2 DC-3's (later their immaculate DC-4 as well but only for a short time because the dutch aviation authorities wouldn't let the DDA fly with passengers anymore, bye bye beautiful DC-4..

( ain't she sweet !!!! )
(we have spent lots of time in the Aviodromes' DC-2 "Uiver" and L-749 Connie at Schiphol and Lelystad as well). My colleague (Rob Cappers), another enthusiast and me developed the DC-2 "Uiver" for FS9 (FSX later) and i worked on various versions of the DC-3 for various FS versions thru the years starting with an upgrade of John Kelley's DC-3 model for FS5 (i think..) and ending a few years ago with the "DC-3 VVC" ( Vintage Virtual Cockpit for Manfred Jahn's amazing C-47/DC-3 external model). This last DC-3 project was particularly very dear to me, as it virtually looked, flew and sounded immensely beautiful and together with a few other enthusiasts we created the very first all singing and dancing C-47/DC-3 package featuring a.o. a complete audible preflight check by the Captain and Co-Pilot. (Tom, who did the Captain's voice, even had his wife do a stewardess voice...;-)
Maybe even more dear to me was the Maam-Sim DC-3 because of the heavenly flightdynamics created by the fd magician pur sang himself Rob Young. (Miss him and his amazing fd work dearly..)
Well, i guess that raps up 'me and my DC-3' for the moment, Ed. hehe.. ( i do miss my ol' Daks from the by gone days of FS dearly when i sporadicly fly the AH C-47/DC-3. They certainly did a great job on it but I think you can imagine that there's nothing like virtually flying an aircraft model that you've been involved with developing it and with a Rob Young flightmodel there's just no comparison IMHO)
Oh my, nearly forgat...i was in a band during the 70's and we toured Surinam and the Dutch Antilles o.a. Our means of transport was....drrrrumrrrooool.....a DC-3 !

There was a time i knew everything about the DC-6 but that's all gone a bit different nowadays. Must have known about the spinners too but it's nice of you to mention it ! I DO remember the DC-4 possibly never had any prop spinners. Maybe over at Douglas they thought it's time to add them and subsequently build the DC-6 around 'em....heheI might have to try it again and I can't recall if it's included in the Standard version of FS2024? I'll look tomorrow. Javis did you know that the DC-6 was not delivered from the factory with prop spinners, those came at a later date, 1956.
@Mike, bring on the DC-4 please so we can fly the four Pratt's without spinners. ;-)
