Possibly the best passenger 'window seat' in Aviation history?

exerpt from the P-38 wiki page...
A P-38L was modified by Hindustan Aeronautics in India as a fast VIP transport, with a comfortable seat in the nose, leather-lined walls, accommodations for refreshments and a glazed nose to give the passenger a spectacular view.

Now, if that wasn't one of the best window seats in aviation I can't think of what is...Sitting in the nose of a P-38 in a comfortable seat with the amenities, watching the world appear ahead of you...WOW Well maybe a close runner up would be the back seat of a Cavalier Executive Mustang...maybe A2A can release an Exec Mustang as an offshoot of their P-51D as a wings of silver release:icon_lol: With Heidi in the back, that would be one hell of a hot executive aircraft in FS:jump:

Without the luxury interior my vote for best "window seat" always goes to the bow observer (nose) position in the P2V Neptune. Only one narrow piece of framing across the front of the molded plexiglass nose cone. Seat was mounted right on the forward edge of the airframe, in fact there was a metal basket type foot rest that extended into the glass portion. I loved flying up there, as close to a God's eye view of the landscape and heavens as you'll ever see.

Wouldn't the bombardier's seat in later B-29/50s with the plexiglass nose also qualify?

After all, you're seeing quite a bit more from 30000ft up...

Yeah, the view from the back-seat of a Mustang can be quite nice, even in FSX. ; )

Absolutely those planes would be awesome to have a front row seat in, any aircraft with a glazed nose would be an awesome seat. Like those old Russian liners, the Navigator had a great view.

But as far as aircraft that have been converted to ferry a lucky passenger, that P-38 just seems like it would be an experience of a lifetime :)

An ex-RAF radar technician told me the only time he actually flew in his RAF wartime service was from Germany back to Britain to be demobbed. The aircraft flew the whole way at 5000 ft and he had the bomb-aimer's couch. :jump:
