Memorial day

Just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone, and wish all a good Memorial Day. I know everyone here knows what its all about, but so many in the United States and the rest of the free world have forgotten the true meaning. We can all enjoy this day only because of the gift given us by those who stood up, assumed the ultimate risk, and said something to the effect of, "Not on my watch!"

I think we should all take a moment, and remember someone here, a friend, a loved one, an aquaintance or someone we might have read about who laid it all on the line and didnt make it home.

I have two. The first is Seaman Apprentice Leon J. Harp, USN, a shipmate who died in a fall into an empty drydock. Granted, he wasnt killed in action, but was serving his country none the less.

The second is Major Michael Stofer, USMC Ret., a dear friend who is dying of cancer and has only a few months to live. Major Stofer flew the F-4 Phantom (nearly every variation) during three tours in VietNam and 12 years of service to this country.

These are two who come to mind for me this day. They come to mind because I knew them personally, but there are so many more.

If you know of someone, post his or her name here, so they might be remembered one more time.
