Great stuff....

..., H. Please do post the article on the shootdown. Very little is known to the general public about the activities of these patrol aircraft.

The plate prints are great. I did notice that one of the captions speaks of the G class having an 'unfaired' tail turret, while a photo I posted earlier in the thread clearly shows the same aircraft with a 'faired' tail turret. Every reference seems to contain some small contradictions. LOL.

Keep the data coming as Gav is into this with both feet, and I'm giving him all the support I can in private. I'm confident that Gav is going to produce some nice stuff. Putting together a nice turret for the Empires now. :applause:
 
Btw....

Since Gav is developing the Empire into a mil version, and something more than a simple AI, you can use Stewart Green's Sunderland panel in this aircraft very nicely. :wavey:

It does mention the better faired in turret being a later addition to the 'G'. I'll sort out the article. 'Corio' was actually shot down by the Japanese whilst still being used as a Civilian aircraft on a scheduled run. It was flown by the only Quantas aircrew to be lost to enemy action.

This was shortly before the route from Australia to Ceylon was discontinued.

- Don't strain yourself on the article about Corio.....it seems a pretty straight forward story with regard to the Jap fighters shooting the civilian aircraft down. There were several survivors left to tell the tale.

- Except for one other C Class which simply disappeared without a trace, it seems the chief cause of loss for these aircraft was accidents on landing and takeoff. But the link you sent seems to deal only with the aircraft in Far East/Pacific service.

- Have you seen anything interesting about European service? I have found little to nothing describing their use in the Atlantic by Coastal Command. I know the civy versions continued to make the regular runs to the Middle East during the war. I'm wondering if any of the armed military versions saw any action at all, whether spotting u-boats or otherwise.

...start up, I know this is not a true Boulton-Paul turret. :argue:

The guns are not spaced widely enough apart in the X-axis, with the gunner truly between the receivers. HOWEVER, it looks pretty good on the AI, and I sent Gav the FSC file, so he can dress it anyway he wants. :friday:
 
I've sorted the article anyway T_R, for nothing else than the photos. Also found some clearer photos of the 'G' Class rear turret.

Also included is a complete list of 'C' and 'G' Class boats if anybody's interested.
