Premium Aircraft...?

OzWookie mentioned something I haven't had a chance to look into yet in another thread about not needing the aircraft.cfg file. Apparently Asobo published something about how to use another file to fill in the necessary data for liveries for premium planes. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, though.
I haven't looked at the new 787 stuff yet, it seems like from discussion you can do more than just install in the "official" directory.

It's explained here: https://flightsim.to/news/boeing-787-liveries-finally-here-liveries-now-much-easier-to-install
And here: https://flightsim.to/file/184/for-creators-new-method-templates-for-a320-b787

The entire DRM scheme for the "premium" airplanes is kind of silly, since I believe that pirate groups have already figured out how to get those aircraft into the cheaper versions of the sim, so Asobo is essentially just annoying anyone who wants to modify the (often seriously wonky) default aircraft at this point.

With FSX/P3d, every copy protection setup I'm aware of still allowed users to modify the aircraft.cfg, so I'm not exactly sure how Asobo managed to take a few steps back here.

The C152. Non-Aerobat. I created a new aircraft texture folder in the main aircraft folder. Then edited the texture in that new folder. I then followed the steps to create a new thumbnail file. Which honestly I haven't gotten right yet. But it's showing up as selectable. It looks like trash so far. but it works. I named it TEXTURE.Metal. Then edited the aircraft.cfg by adding the new [FLTSIM.1] entry.

Trust me...I'm hacking right now. No idea how to do anything. I'm definitely NOT messing with core stuff without making backups. I also, DO NOT have access to the community folder and/or there is NOTHING housed in mine currently, meaning it's totally empty.
