Prepar3D 2 news....

Looking good so far.
The 3D water is going to make carrier landings a whole new experience.

Exactly! Wonder with the new bathymetry option if we can have submarines now, maybe divers. Wonder what will have to be added to existing boats/aircraft to get them to react to the new water effects.

Wow... all this...

* Object Instancing

* Tessellated Terrain on the Graphics Card

* Multi-Threading Support

* GPU Particle and Effect System

* Real-Time Shadows and Lighting

* 3-D Waves and Water Surface

* Volumetric Fog

Can't wait to join the P3D bandwagon! Going to make some cool videos!

Been waiting for this one.

Looks like the creative limits are going to expand exponentially...heh...heh...

Just installed CS6 and now looking at 3D Studio. The new super computer will be here next week.
Sounding like a full blown design geek.....yep.

What I want to see is the ability to make vegetation react to wind/weather. THAT would be spectacular. The animation would be straight forward if the sim could run the engine.

Sim is becoming quite fun these days.

What Video card will take advantage of 2.0 ?

I did actually read the Prepar3D news at their site and I think I understand part of the terminology and information ,:isadizzy:although some of it was beyond my comprehension . I currently am running a GTX 760(Factory OC'd) which does very well . This is going from a 560ti which I really liked because it ran so cool . I would think it(760) will do pretty good but obviously won't take advantage of all the bells and whistles a 780 would from what I've read :confused: . Really looking forward to 2.0 . This has been quite a year for us simmers don't you think ? New PC build last July so bring it on LM , ORBX , (MJ's C47 beta and it's hundreds of excellent paints-LOL ) and many new AC currently being built .

From what I understand Roger, there are a number of leading FSX developers working on the Beta (based on public statements) so I'd say LM have backwards compatibility on their list of priorities.

Can't wait for P3D v2.0. Been on board from day one and hoping the advances discussed early on for version 2 would come to life. Looks like the list has exceeded all my hopes.

What a great list of features,I was hoping for 64 bit optimization but I can't have everything,This Ill take!!:salute:

submarines are already available in version 1.3 and 1.4, but only two small ones so far as stock items, but bathymetry is hard on frame rates

Very anxious for 2.0

Am I correct in saying even though AC and scenery worked well in 1.4 it does not necessarily mean they will be fully compatible with 2.0 ? I know LM is working hard with developers on the compatibility issues . I just bought Instant Scenery 3 and love using it with P3D 1.4 . I guess I'll just have to have more patience which I'm not too good at times .:jump:

Hanging in there ,

I went to the P3D site, and tried to find the answer to my question (but was unable).....

Have the P3D developers posted a "suggested" computer component spec list of what is required to run this new & improved P3D?

NC

An educated estimation from myself would be that specs will remain mostly the same, with the exception of the GPU; which will be hit much harder (due to some heavy new shaders like the projected grid ocean, HDR & more).
GPU will have to be DX11 compliant.

I think we should wait till it is out before worrying about what computer to get, in case you get the wrong equipment.

The anticipated popularity of Prepar3D makes me wonder how developers and publishers like Flight1 will react, as up to press, they seem to be very much anti Prepar3D? I think they will be forced to get on the bandwagon or be left behind, they will need to do it to survive.
I have stopped buying from them since moving to P3D, which is a shame, because some of there products are top notch.
