Prepar3D 2 news....

I think we should wait till it is out before worrying about what computer to get, in case you get the wrong equipment.

I'm hopeful my present setup will be able to run it. Buying more computer components right now, are not in my plans! NC

The way it looks to me from what I am reading is that some of the load will be taken off the CPU and put on the GPU, as well as many of the new features going to the GPU, so a new/more current vid card might be in order, but that is much easier than getting a new CPU or MOBO and usually cheaper.

I am excited to see what PSDv2 has to offer. Based on what I am reading, for me at the very least if we get a significant performance overhead increase (20% or more) then I will be thrilled, the rest is all icing on the cake. I can't wait to try the new lighting out as well as the new water effects.

I have no issues with any company that refuses to let their products work in P3D due to the wording of the EULA, makes perfect legal (covering your butt) sense to me. I am not also going to suggest that they "have" to adopt or go out of business, it is not my call, but theirs and I am pretty sure they know what they are doing with their business model more than I do. I am leary of the EULA muself since if you follow it to the letter, it leaves most of us out, BUT if developers like ORBX, FLightbeam, Aerosoft are on board and LM themselves are posting about features to the community, I feel pretty confident it is worth taking a chance on with open eyes.

Bring it on!!

This Prepar3D preview is probably the best news in the flight simulation world in a while.
Right from the start - if LM delivers as per the promises (and I am very confident they will) - should run considerably better than FSX on the same hardware (provided you already have a good DX11 card and a multi-core processor).

IMHO, this may be the true successor to FSX.

Been waiting for this one.

Looks like the creative limits are going to expand exponentially...heh...heh...

Just installed CS6 and now looking at 3D Studio. The new super computer will be here next week.
Sounding like a full blown design geek.....yep.

What I want to see is the ability to make vegetation react to wind/weather. THAT would be spectacular. The animation would be straight forward if the sim could run the engine.

Sim is becoming quite fun these days.

You mean like this G...

Mind you, that wasn't P3D_V2.

In that simulator, which is still being created, they use new technologies to create flora, terrain mesh, grass, etc. Awesome game or engine platform. When its done, it will be revolutionary.

If you have a reasonably modern GPU (say, 560 Ti and up), I'd be shocked if you didn't see better performance with Prepar3D than FSX.

I'm super-psyched about this. Never saw any reason to move over from FSX till now, but I'll be 100% on board when this is released.

Still pretty awesome, Bill.

My latest 'puter update runs a 3.2gb i5, an nvidia GTX 640 and 8gb of DDR3Ram. I am hoping that it will pull P3D v2's weight.

I did this little test using a ATI 5850 1gig card at DX11. This will give you an idea how this may look from the pics LM provided. You will notice in the upper left corner, I'm moving sliders that represent time, clouds, rain, and wind. I can walk or fly anywhere in this program. If you like nature, its a relaxing place to travel thru.
