Prepar3Dv5 and VR

SOH-CM-2023
Here it was a topic about VR in 4.5 version https://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohfor...ns-with-P3D-v4-5-(this-is-really-wow-for-me!) .

When the v5 was released many VR users noticed big problem of flckering on the left eye which means that I have withheld my purchase. Sim was unplayable in VR simply what is strange because it worked well in 4.5 HT2 version.

Finally looks that LM found a case of this issue, here is very good news from Today's morning for VR users:

Thank you for this very detailed post. I believe we have idea of the cause of the left eye jitter and are working to resolve it. Our rendering is now threaded and happening concurrently with the update of the next frame. It looks like there is a potential for the a new set of poses to be captured after the left eye camera has processed and before the right causing the two cameras to be out of sync. In makes sense that certain combinations of settings and hardware would help mitigate the issue. For example, the render thread can be working while the frame limiter is waiting on the main thread, so limiting the frame rate increases your chance of the render work completing before the left eye update begins. Thanks again for posting these results.

Good to see it! Im waiting for fix and next I'll buy v5! :wavey: Hope soon.

Next good news from LM :encouragement::

Hello all,

I have some good news to report. We tracked down the issue and have a fix for it. Thankfully, our virtual reality module is built as an add-on using our SDK, so we can create a small add-on to replace it without modifying any files in the install directory. Our plan is to package this fix up as an add-on and provide a link to it here on the forums, so that you will have the opportunity to test it out and provide feedback. We will post back with more details when the add-on is available for download.

Thanks again for all the feedback.

Yes but its not for VR WMR what I need personally.
This will be also:

Thanks everyone for sharing your WindowsMR feedback. It sounds like this impacts all WindowsMR headsets which likely means the WindowMR driver does not respect the extended call we are using to pass tracking poses in with the final images. We have a plan for how to work around the limitation. We will post back here when we have a WindowsMR patch ready to test.

This is slightly off topic, but I am really disappointed with LM and PD3. I installed it yesterday and have yet to enjoy the program. I had issues getting ORBX to load. My biggest issue is these Graphic card hanging issues. LM admitted that they have a recognize problem here. If so, why release? If one of my two graphics cards hangs, there goes the flight. V5 will crash.

The LM turbo trainer is a POS and a joke. It is right out of FS9 or earlier. Why even give us, who are considered to be real aviators, an airplane that is such crap. I didn't even look at their Cessna 172 fake.

Anyway, it is pretty. The lighting and clouds are a real improvement over V4. However, I will put it back on the shelf until V5.1 comes out.

John, this is topic about VR, here you have about release - http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/119134-Prepar3D-V5-releasing-April-14th .
btw. but - yep, this is true, this not release candidate for 100%. Its an early access or beta, should not be released yet according me. It has such basic issues as even CTD when you use ATC or levitating cars, LOL :biggrin-new:. In VR I cant click on any 2D panels buttons ect.
Many of these problems could be diagnosed if someone did just 1hour flight between point A and B with all procedures from C&D. Im surprised also (that's why I didn't delete 4.5v) and also Id like to see finished P3Dv5, certainly it has a big potential also!

Ok, near 4 flying hours behind me with HT1 and - Im very happy what we have now. No any CTD, very good FPS as it was and working VR (WMR) as it should and clickable 2D panels. Nice job of LM :applause: !
Maybe not 100% of problems of this v5 was solved with this patch but the direction is good (Now the most important thing is to fix the problem - wind shift aloft - for me).

Here my settings of Prepar3Dv5 HT1 for VR flying (for 2D screen I only turn ON True sky):

Prepar3D v5.0 Hotfix (5.0.24.34874) is now available. They do suggest uninstalling and a full install by the way.

Having posted the above, I discovered this on the official P3D forum which is definitely work checking. I personally have only tried the updated version
5.0.24.34874 once and did think that framerates were not quite fluid as the original version with the VR patch installed.

For me is better now, check my settings post above. Maybe it helps something.
Here is new option SyncMode in VR mode settings - Pre-render or Update.
