Hey guys,

As I finished up the last few days in Holland, what else needs to be done in the CFS2 world?

1) I know that No Dice's website needs to be taken care of, so I'll start working on that tomorrow.

2) What needs to be done regarding Caleb Flerk's website?

3) Ravenna - What's the deal with the Flanders scenery? Is the scenery ready to upload?

Is there anything else needing my attention, folks?

Whoa Rami!

Glad to see you back with spurs on and ready to ride.

I'm not smart enough to know what's next, but glad you are doing so well. :applause:

Papua New_Guinea Campaign

Rami

I got tired of flying the P-39, so I uploaded a new copy of PNG campaign. I wanted to use the alternate km P-40E. However. when I overwrote the P.39 missions/campaigns, They were for the P-39 still and not the P-40E. Could you check this for me.

Rami, are you up to creating a GSL of the Caen Marshaling Yard? I made a layout in MB but I don't have the tools or knowledge to make it a GSL

486_Col_Wolf,

If you have the layout, turning the layout into GSL is a piece of cake. I also have some GSL scenery for Caen that includes a railyard, but I would be happy to incorporate yours. The only tricky part about that area of France is Caen is at the intersection of about four different gobs, so if the railyard is placed in a location where part of it lies in one gob and a different part in another, then placement and "shifting" of the layout when it is made into GSL can be a real headache.

If you use the "in house" GSL editor rather than Martin Wright's tools, that headache is largely eliminated.

I looked but never found any GSL scenery for Caen. If it already exists then I'd rather use that. Since I have no other GSL's for that area other than your ports it should be fine. Can you tell me where to find it?

First, my apologies (particularly to Allen, the B24Guy and Robert Sprackland) for the long gestation period for this package. It seems to have just growed and growed:costumed-smiley-034.
We still have a couple of balls in the air. Fitting one of John Fortin's airfields into the existing ground textures, flattening the ground around Ostende, redrawing the outskirts of Ostende and a landing ground at Mariakerke nearby. Most of this is being worked on by Kevin Driver who has put a huge amount of work into this project.
All else is finished and tested, including a cut down townscape for Bruges and the placing of towns and gun batteries along the Belgian coast (I told you it just growed!)
Perhaps the last item will be adjusting the download links for the objects from the FreeFlight site. These can be left as they are, provided we can have some indication that the links will remain active.....over to you Andrew.

Rami,

''2) What needs to be done regarding Caleb Flerk's website?''

I've emailed the web host company that comes up when trying to access the website, so lets see. I think Caleb Flerk is actually Bill Caraway of BDi Productions

Bdi Productions
2610 Wood Warbler Lane
Roanoke, VA 24018
Phone: (540) 989-1657

There's no email or website for that company, which is a video and tape distributor, but if one of you guys in ths States feels like making the call....then that might get us somewhere quicker.

I had a trawl around on my simming HDD and found that I had all of Caleb's ebooks on his main topics. I think with the Waybackmachine pages and these ebooks, IF the site doesn't come back, will be all that we have, but at least we have the majority of the info.

I could upload the ebooks to SOH, for safe keeping, but an ethical/copyright SOH descision would have to be made if we were to host them and make them publically available.

Thoughts?

Cheers

Shessi,

Well, I suppose if you don't like the answers, don't ask the questions! :biggrin-new:

Okay, you've given me a pretty good "honey do" list here. Let me finish the mission I am working on, and I'll work these requests in before school starts. :encouragement:

Mark,

Let me try contacting him tomorrow and see if I can get a definitive answer. If not, we can discuss options. :encouragement:

486_Col_Wolf,

As promised, here is the GSL for Caen (including Achim's airfield) that has the city and the layout. It is a typical "quick and dirty" version, not meant to be historically accurate. The railyard as placed is on the western end of the city. It's relatively small, to fit into a confined space.

I have included a larger marshalling yard layout (Plovdiv railyard) that you can include as you see fit into the scenery for your purposes. The "_a" layout has the train cars and AA guns placed, so that you don't have to do as much work, but remember that those should not be part of the GSL, otherwise they will be static and not fire any weapons.

Nice one Rami, thanks.

Yes would be the quickest way round this.

I've not heard back from the web host company yet.

Cheers
