My brother and I are trying to play CFS3 online and keep receiving an "aircraft mismatch" error when he connects via IP address to the session I'm hosting. I see a player come into the "room" and then immediately exit and that's when he gets the error.

He's using Windows Vista and has installed both CFS3 updates. He's behind a router.

I am using XP and have installed the CFS3 3.1 upgrade, but get an Update Aborted message (in Spanish and German, I think) when I try to install 3.1a AC Utility. When I check Help...About in CFS3 it shows I have version 3.1.

When setting up the room we have chosen both options for aircraft selection - either the "Allow All Aircraft in My Collection" or "Allow Specific Aircraft". Neither of us has added any aircraft nor modified the planes that come with CFS3. When specifying aircraft, we ensure we select the same planes.

When he tries to enter the room, I see him log in, then he gets booted right away.

Any help in this would be greatly appreciated!

:kilroy:Freakingroovin, the Vista is the problem.

Please read these two sticky threads thoroughly and use the most recent findings:

It might be a very good idea to update both the XP and Vista installs fully (3.1 and 3.1a).

Also, you both have to have the same planes in your installs, or rather, the guest has to have the same aircraft in his install as the host is choosing to use by selection.

Obviously, you have already got your router ports opened successfully, judging from your above statement.

Just follow Deadmeat1971's instructions in Post #1 in the second sticky thread above.

Remember, it only applies to the Vista user, and it does work, beautifully, as I have been told.

If you have any problems, or need further assistance, please feel free to come back here.

In addition, concerning IP-to-IP games, opening router ports (port forwarding) only applies to whoever wishes to host. You don't have to open your ports to join, only host.

Good luck and have fun.:d
