Projected lighting?

Does anyone know how to project a beam of active light over a significant distance, say 500 yards or more? This may well not be possible really, but every time I look at that black Boston, I want to fit a Turbinlite to it. I've tried the ETO/AvH truck and landing lights, but they glow without illuminating a target. Great for passive lighting to look at, but won't do for active lighting. I tried the GC searchlight effects a long time ago, but couldn't get them to work.

Anybody know what comes next?

O-1 made the effect.i made 4 light emmision points. two for the wings one for the center of the plane and one to imitate the leigh lite.steve has an up grade for them in the waited for update
