Propliner Suggestions?

My hangar is populated with mostly single engine GA aircraft, a few twins, an ultralight or two and quite a bit of Military, both WWII and current aircraft. What I don't have is a Propliner. It isn't something I'd fly all the time, but I would really like to connect with one good 2 engine or 4 engine prop that I can spend the time getting to know, as it were, lol.

I know everyone has their favorites, but if you had to choose, say the top 4, what would you suggest?:salute:
 
A2A 377 is a regular. Lots of fun once you actually read the manual. Even if you don't buy Accusim it is a blast to fly.

Many to chose from. I like these...

IL-14 (Christensen)
Convair CV-580 (Gibson/Pepper)
NAMC YS-11 (Kaihlanen et al.)
Lockheed 749(Jahn)
Some of these are FS9 portovers but they work reasonably well in FSX.

I highly recommend and second that 'vote'.

....I also still highly recommend the MAAM DC-3 as well, with all the FSX patches available. Does not perform as well as some in FSX, is getting a bit 'long in the tooth' for it's age, but still is a great choice for a great iconic aircraft, and better than most all availiable.

That's the best choice, especially with Accusim.
However, that also depends on the level of complexity you want, Falcon.
The A2A 377 is not going to start with CTRL+E, and once all the engines are started, you're not going to fly without caring about your engine parameters.

This is why, if you are looking for a good payware, I'd rather recommend you the A2A B-17 with Accusim. It's even more complex than the 377, but the major difference is that you can assign the engine handling to the crew, so you can actually fly without watching all the time your engines.

Now, in freeware, I would tend to think about the Constellation from Manfred Jahn, very complex as well, but it's a FS9 port-over.
There also of course the defaut DC-3, and it's variants called Awesome4some.
The Electra made by FS-KBT is native as well, but the VC is quite simple...
The Convair 240 made by Brett Henderson (hope I wrote it correctly :/ ) is FSX native too, and it has a virtual cockpit that is a remodelling of the default DC-3 (new intruments, and different windows I believe).
The Howard 500 from Milton Shuppe has been converted to FSX native as well, you'll find it at FSNorthwest.
What else?....
 
If you would just like something bigger, but similar in flying experience (i.e.VFR), I would suggest the Aerosoft Catalina, there are civilian airline as well as military versions and she flies superbly 'by hand', something the others here are not quite so good at.

Aerosoft's Catalina and/or A2A's Boeing 377 Stratocruiser !

Yes there are military Catalinas in the Aerosoft package, but civilian ones too, and a comprehensive paint kit opens up opportunities for many more. The Aerosoft Catalina is bordering on perfection, in my opinion.

Coupled with Accusim, A2A's Stratocruiser is a great challenge and one of those products that, as you come to learn it, you know its been money well spent. A2A seems to have lowered its aspirations back into the hum-drum for now, but the Accusim Stratocruiser was incredibly bold and still fills a place in FSX like no other aircraft can do.

For the time being (until my finances improve a bit) I've gone with the "Connie" by Manfred Jahn
and the "Electra" by Team FS-KBT.

When it's feasible, I'll look into at least one of the payware suggestions. Thanks again!!:salute:
 
The Convair 240 by Tom Gibson at Calclassics is a fine flyer.
As noted Manfred Jahns' connie is a real wonder. He and his team are currently building an FSX DC-3/C-47 which should be another wonder!!
 
In terms of payware, based on ones that I have either bought or tried out at friends -

A2A seem to be No1, with their B377 and B-17
Then there is the Captain Sim C-130 - not a liner, but very similar in other respects
Just flight/AH do a reasonable Constellation that I have

Also, as a move up from single engine, there are some twins -
Carenado Seneca - which I use a fair bit
Realair Duke (their products are always good)

Hope this helps a bit

Top choice for me would have to be the, already mentioned, B377 from A2A followed by the Uiver DC2.

I'm disppointed, Daube.
(Just kidding.)

It's a nice free enhancement for piston engines for those not willing to afford AccuSim.

And for everything with a jet engine, I've got something in the works...

Falcon, it sounds like you've made-up your mind, but perhaps you'd consider the updated VBF versions of the Cal-Classics Convair 240. They're real beauties!

I say "they" 'cause there are several "base packs", including a military version, which certainly has some nice paints available.

If you go to FlightSim.com, and search for "VBF", you'll get the lot -- the paints and some of the base packs.

I think they're beautifully done, and sweet to fly. Great price at $0.00, too.
 
Speaking of Real Engine, Merc Air's Flight 19 has adapted it Jens' DC-4 and have been flying the heck out of it online. Moses did the DC-4, but I'm looking to adapt RE to other aircraft as well.
