PTO Install sequence

Barnstorm

"Molon Labe"
Forgive me for plowing the same field, but after reading the posted instructions for installing PTO, I am somewhat confused--

Do I need to copy my "clean" install of CFS3 and re-name it, then start the install process? Because, not doing this, causes problems:

Even after re-directing the install path to C:\ (x86)Program Files\MS Games\;
The installer keeps putting PTO 1.4 into C:\ (x86Progam Files\;
Multi-Install.exe does not run (?)
Also, in the Aircraft folder I find German AC..bf 109 and fw 190 and JU88;
There is reference to MAW in the files as well.
I downloaded this from the OZ website.

After reading the prior posts, I gathered the installer created the install folder automatically (?)

I would appreciate any help on this.

Windows 7 64 bit will place older 32 bit stuff into its own folder.
remember 286's 386's 486's? pre-pentium? (never mind) lol

Don't copy it or rename it, just input to the installer exactly
where your CFS3 3.1a lives....that is....C:\Program Files (x86)\Micr...
........................................................------------------

The installer will then build a PTO folder next to CFS3 and
set up other folders inside.
It will then take info from CFS3 and fill up the PTO folder.

The sequence of the many updates is important and as follows:
FIRST *build 1.4
then update 1.0
.................1.13
.................1.22
.................1.30
.................1.4 *
.................1.54

There is no multi-installer to run, but the installer will make a few passes.
You will find stock A/C in the aircraft folder, but they're not selectable
in the game. (just need parts) :)
I also saw a reference to MAW in the folder but that's OK. Also, check the
properties of the desktop icons for target and start in paths.

I hope this helps. I've just set up the good ol' PTO on a
64 bit machine myself tonight.(forgot the build had only 4 a/c!)

THE OZx website is where to get it!

FireStorm, Thanks for responding.

The problem is, it is not being installed where my CFS3.1a lives:

The clean install resides in: C:\(x86)Programs)\Microsoft Games\

The installer keeps putting it into C:\(x86)Programs\....... (not the MS Games sub-folder).

I have tried to mannually move the install, but that failed. I have changed the paths in the desktop shortcuts to C:\(x86)Programs\xxxxx, but still get error msg's that the program can not be found. I have de-selected the "Read Only" button on install DIR, but that had no effect either. ETO works great. I wonder if I need to re-activate the User Accounts Control ? But that should have no effect on this issue.

I am greatfull for all the help,guys.

Barnstorm, please check the folders in C:\

Your CFS3 will be under C:\Program Files (x86)\
or should be...
You will also see C:\Program Files\

And now you may also see C:\(x86)Program Files\
or some variation of it, because this was created
by the installer when you typed it in. (ETO create?)
Please check exactly where that CFS3 is at!

FireStorm,
All of my CFS3 installs reside in C:\Progam Files(x86)\Microsoft Games.

The ONLY exception is OFF-OBD SOftware, which is located in C:\

According to the ETO install Guide, above path is the mandatory path required to install ETO in a 64 bit OS.

I can not understand why the installer ignores the path that I enter..
C:\Progam Files(x86)\Microsoft Games...and installs it in the default path: C:\Programs\

Just to let you know the PTO install finally went through, thanks to FireStorm. What I was doing was, when the installer would activate, I would click on the small box with the three dots(...) and the instller would let me 'scroll' through the computer's directories for the proper install path. I WAS selecting the proper path for a 64bit OS: C:\Programs Files (x86)\Microsoft Games;

but the installer kept putting PTO in the root of C:\

I have no idea why.

When I stared the installer and maually typed in the correct path, the install worked perfectly.:banghead:

Just somethig to keep in mind.

Sweet

Firestorm deserves a medal to be sure.

He has helped me wrap up many issues concerning CFS3 and it's expansions.

We have been flying ETO for a few months now and hoping to get more flyers in Multiplayer.

To that end, we saw you on the SOH Teamspeak 3 and hope we can contact you sometime.

We both have Windows 7 64-bit systems and can help you with just about anything there.

Look for us to be on weeknights, evenings at Eastern Standard Time, we're usually flying then.
