Night attacks under flare light
In 1965 in Dar Lac Province SVN we were ambushed by an NVA Regiment. Ths was when I was an advisor to the ARVn 2d ID/8th AC, the road ahead had to be cleared before we could break out. That night we experienced close air support by Hoboes/Spads dropping their ordnance under flare light supplied by "Puff ". Altho' I was a combat veteran from Korea I had never seen or experienced anything quite like close air support after dark. If you have never experienced dark in a jungle utterly devoid of artifical light, you have never seen dark. Under these conditions the old saying, "Can't see my hand in front of my face" is true .
