Pto scenery installation

Hi guys
Am going to make a fresh installation of pto and i want your help/advice about scenery. I made a search at library and found a lot from maskrider. Also i saw at flightsim pactex 1-4 & 2-5 of i remember well. Please advice what to do

cheers:guinness:

Install the Maskrider sceneries and Pactex 1-3 for PTO and you are off to a good start. Also, Pen32Win's AF Papua New Guinea. I forgot who did the Truk Atol scenery but I'm sure someone will help out. Caution: Maskrider's scenery after 2008 is set up using Rhumbaflappy's new coastlines... don't instal them in this install.

Welcome aboard! :salute:

Thanks for your fast reply!!:icon29: but i want to ask to install maskriders scenery prior to 2008+pactex or to install but without Rhumbaflappy's coastlines?

cheers

Another quest
if i add ships and forgot to add info on mdlnames and descrip dat what would be my problem

cheers

For 1, you won't see a descrition of the object/ship in your Mission Builder 3rd window. Note: with Usio's ships (other than carriers) you'll have to change the unit family and category on the dp under [MISC_DATA] to corespont to the actual ship type. All his ships are category and unit family as carriers. Don't forget to delete the cdp after making any change.

I don't know for sure the problems that might arise from not editing the mdlnames file, so I'll let someone else answer that.

The primary purpose of the mdlnames.dat file is to provide a plain language name for the ship or infrastructure object being selected in Mission Builder. Without a mdlnames.dat entry, Mission Builder will display either the folder name (ships) or dp name (vehicles, infrastructure) of the object depending on what kind of an object it is.

Bottom line, you don't need to do anything to the mdlnames.dat file unless you want to.

Thanks guys for your help but i thinks i've messed up. Take a look at pics, its from Midway. I installed mr png, solomons and palau+ pactex. Prior as Dvslats in his tut wrote i installed dem mesh and dem mesh 8.

Nik,

Regardless of what guides or templates you choose to follow, i learned long ago that there are certain immutable laws that must be adhered to when installing scenery. First, you must always install addon mesh just above the default scenedb\world\scenery (aka TERRAIN), which is nothing more than the sim's default mesh. So your DEM mesh should have been "lowered" on installation to the level just above TERRAIN in order to supersede it correctly. After the DEM mesh, the next highest item should be Default Scenery, which also includes the defo landclass files:

[Area.XXX]
Title=Default Scenery
Local=scenery
Active=TRUE
Layer=XX
Required=TRUE
Remote=

Exit the sim afterwards and then restart to now add the bases.

You can add the bases again in the same order as shown in your post, but make sure you install Palau last because for whatever reasons it seems to do best high in the airbases hierarchy above the others.

This order will put the default infrastructure items next above all the bases:

[Area.XXX]
Title=CFS1 Library
Local=Scenedb\library
Active=TRUE
Layer=XX
Remote=
Required=FALSE

[Area.XXX]
Title=Airport Facilities Data
Local=Scenedb\AFDFiles

Nik, i think you misunderstood. Don't deactivate the mesh, just install it above the TERRAIN in the library list. Then add the Coast Pacific above this, then the bases.

pto scenery
