Shalom and greetings all,

Sorry if it is stupid question but hey I was born in 20th century!!

What is push notification?? The new SOH forums which look GREAT keep asking me to activate push notification option.

Thanks for any answer that any person born in 20th century can understand.

A push notification happens when you may be browsing the internet and not on this site. It will pop up in the right-hand corner of your screen and say something
like "Mrzippy responded to your your post in Ickie's Newshawks".
 
Or if you are subscribed to a form thread or will pop up then. Conversation notification also result in Push notifications. I like them for this site but I wouldn't do it every where.

Say no if you don't want to receive them and it should stop.

I want push notifications ONLY ONLY within SOH forums. I do not want push notifications outside of SOH forums while reading other websites. The kind of notification I want is to inform me when a reply to my post or thread is made. What do I have to do to get that desire, please?

@Aharon The watch button seen a the top of threads. This is also seen on each forum as well. This will cause the bell to get a number in next to it like I have for mail. You can also get email notifications from things you watch.

Yes that is what I want but it is not working hence me asking here how. In all other forums, when someone replies to my post or my thread, there is always indication on the bell next to envelop on top of screen but in this SOH forum, it is not working. Guess I have to dig more to examine default settings of my SOH forum account.

Ahron, Go to your preferences....click on your name by the envelope in the top right and choose preferences. Scroll down through them and checkmark
the ones you want for notifications.

That is what I did. Strange it is not working and does not even notify me of your reply to my post.

Latest version of Firefox in Windows 7 Pro in 10 year old laptop or Windows 10 Pro in 1 year old laptop.

Good news is that today, it finally is working on the ten year old laptop. I not only see red indicator in the bell but also get notification by email which is clear indication that it is working now. Do not know why it was not working in past few days since I activated the option of notification.

There are some email providers that are blocking us as they believe we are spammers because this is a fairly new domain. I have been doing my best to fix the issue but we still have an issue with some email providers.
