Puss Moth Released!

Wow it looks fantastic !
Downloading right now. Thanks for the hard work, gentlemen :) :ernae:

It is really beautiful non doubt it will be a top candidate for repaints of all sorts.

Great, free... and thank you Milton and Team for this generous gift thanks! thanks! :jump::jump::jump:

Hello All. Love the Puss Moth. Window opens and closes, "Clear!". Interesting effect when the flaps are actuated. Those long members running from wing to wheel strut are unique. Do they give the same effect as flaps on the wings? (with me it's "no brain, no pain, so I do not know"). I do have a small issue. She seems to pull to the right. While pulling to the right, I did a 180 (fly opp. direction), and still pulled to the right. Recalibrated my yoke "in flight". Still pulls to the right. Please help. Thank you in advance. :ernae:

To err is human, but to REALLY screw things up takes a computer!

The activation of the "airbrakes" produces two effects (aside from the 9 animations required on each side :) ), a pitching moment - nose down, and drag sufficient enough to allow a normal angled approach. There is no lift associated with the airbrakes.

The yaw effect to the right is opposite what we normally experience with the prop rotation and seems to make it even more noticeable. I dream of a period auto-pilot. :mixedsmi: With no dihedral, wing leveling and heading requires constant attention of the pilot.

Thank you Nigel; I hope your recovery is quick and that your sim flying brings many hours of enjoyment.

Took the DH80 from the great art deco Renfrew scenery. via campbell to Belfast last night; what a hands-on pilot's plane!

Immersive experience, and great -looking too. Flies like a dream, but quite a handful if, like moi, one tends to over-input rudder control. had to reset my twist-stick sensitivities to keep her going in a roughly straight line. Dandog , I feel ur pain...

Thanks to the Team for all the hard work and thaks to teh community for the research support, great effort!

Especially for those of you who have twist sticks, rather than adjust stick sensitivities, you might consider using the Flight Tuning section of the aircraft.cfg.

Change rudder_effectiveness=1.0 to a lower value, maybe 0.5 for a 50% reduction, and;

Change p_factor_on_yaw = 0.3 to a lower value to help with those right turning tendancies.

Tweak for your preferences. With these changes in my testing, she flies as straight as an arrow.

Very beautifully done Milton and Team. I usually lean more towards planes like the Howard, the D-18S, and the Grizzly when it comes to GA Props but I really enjoyed flying this little gem. I did some touch and go's in and out of Townsville, Queensland Australia. It's amazing just how slow the little plane will go before it stalls.

Thanks for this nice little slow flyer.... definately a keeper :medals:

Trim Problem

This is really strange, but I can't get the Puss Moth in trim. I need almost full back (up) on the joystick and 15 degreee up trim just to keep her level. If I let go of the stick, she noses over and dives.
I realize that the plane seems to work beautifully for everyone else - any ideas about what is going on?
I have no problems with any of Milton's other planes, and I fly them a LOT. (Thanks a million, Milton and crew - you've given me many hours of pleasure!) This did happen to me once before, with a Piper Cub, and I never did figure it out.
I'll be sincerely disappointed if I can't fly this beautiful plane. Any ideas?

Jerry

Hmmm, ensure AP is off, flaps (airbrakes) are retracted.

If necessary, switch to another aircraft to ensure that AP is off.

She should climb easily at 500fpm to 6-7000' at 60-66kias.

roger this! testing tonite...thanks again Milton and Team!

Trim Problem Found and Solved

It's the joystick. I knew it had to be something in my setup. The "switch planes" suggestion gave me the hint, and I switched controls, too. Thanks! I expect to put in a lot of enjoyable time in this beautiful plane.

I hope you are on the mend and make a full recovery. I am in the same postion as you. My 'real' flying days are now a long and distant memory. But with FS9 I can 'fly a much more varied selection of creations. Did manage some flights in Tiger Moths but never a Puss Moth.

All that is missing is the unique old aeroplane smell of cellulose dope, petrol and hot oil. I don't miss the ingestion of castor oil though (only happened to me once):kilroy:

Really a lovely little plane! This evening I made a small flight above my country, which looks really beautiful in GW3.

The Moth is beautifully modelled and the textures by Damian give this model a very special look. It flies real nice and gentle, as it should.

Thank you Milton and team for this great addition in my hangar.

Thanks guys, she's just lovely, all DH's are anyway and you've really done her justice and then some!!

I've officially retired my JF Tigermoth as my low'n'slow GW3 cruiser of choice. (don't feel too bad, she'll still get the odd service and a hop to keep her trim).
