Q about Just Flight Hurricane

ian elliot

SOH-CM-2025
This has gone on sale at Flightstore, i didnt know there was a Hurrie by JF, just curious what its like, is it the same model as in the Hawker Heroes pack, if it is, i'll hold out until thats on sale. Have i missed any other payware models. Im guessing its been around a few years although ive never seen it before.

cheers ian

The JustFlight Hurricans are AH, the FCS ones were Dan Dunn (who now works for Dovetail Games, FTR...) I keep them installed and am happy with them. I tend to fly them a lot more than Dan's, if I'm honest. The FDEs seem a lot more probable, to me as someone who has never actually flown a Hurricane I!

Oddly enough the FCS Hurricanes work quite well in FSX, and even P3D3.
I like them.

I have the FCS hurricane, Im happy with it, I just couldnt see the detail in the AH model

the down side is there is no paintkit for FCS model

The FCS model can also outrun a Mustang, let alone a Spitfire or Bf109. The FDE is very questionable.

Having had it pointed out to me, the seriously squiffy bit of mesh at the root of the tail in the earlier "Hurricane" pack also annoys me about Dan's model. The later packs (Hurricane v Stuka, Hawker Heroes, etc.) had this fixed, but the changes never made it back to the originals.

I have and use both. My personal recommendation would be to have and use both, because Dan Dunn's FCS models cover a much wider range than the Battle of Britain and earlier AH/JustFlight ones.

Edited to add: This is the full pack - https://www.justflight.com/product/battle-of-britain-70th-anniversary-download
Edit 2: You ask if you've missed any - AH/JF also do a Zero (https://www.justflight.com/product/a6m2-zero), a bunch of Wildcats/Martlets (https://www.justflight.com/searchresults?category=products&query=wildcat) as well as the already well known Corsair, C-46, C-47, etc.

Although I like the looks of the later Marks better, with their more elongated/sleeker spinners, I like the Just Flight/Aeroplane Heaven FSX Hurricane quite a lot. I have the FCS Hawker Heroes product too, with the FCS Hurricane, but I just don't find the cockpit appealing/detailed enough, or the presence of the holes in the spinner when the prop is spinning, and as mentioned the FDE is way off the mark.

Our own Nick Braden (NickB) has produced/released tons of fantastic repaints for the JF Hurricane, which can be found at Flightsim.com http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/91542-Hurricane?highlight=

The JF Hurricane FDE seems quite a close match to the real thing (though I've done a few tweaks to make it fly like the brilliant Robert Sanderson Hurricanes from FS9).

All screenshots are of the JF model, with NickB repaints.

I got the FCS Hawker hero's pack and later the JF BOB package with the spit, hurricane and 109 when it went on . After having both I liked the JF models better (actually AH models) going mostly on the visuals. The FCS package is not bad and had I not gotten the JF package would have been happy with it, now with the exception of the Fury the others have been relegated to the mothball fleet. The Fury is a bit of a hot rod, but after reading about the FDE issues with FCS it makes more sense.

BTW, they all seam to work fine in V4.

I have both, and I'm still happy with the JF/AH Hurricane. The original pack includes prototype, two-blader pre-war and Battle of France as well as Battle of Britain versions, and there's a neat starter trolley too.

Interesting stuff here, you've almost talk'd me into the model :biggrin-new:, intresting that the Zero and Wildcat were mention'd too by Ian, i have the old CFS2 version's, with a little help from Mr Scrub, flying in FSX for purely sentimental reason's, ive got the WOP II Zero somewhere but i always jump into the CFS2 one first, just to remind me of the fun i had in my CFS2 days :jump:

Just to be fair on FCS, this is the cockpit from their Hurricane only package. Not quite JF/AH standard, but much improved over their Hawker Heroes model:

I recently reinstalled the JF/AH Wildcat and was surprised at just how good it is. It looks great, handles well, and it's one of the very few aircraft I can get down safely on an escort carrier. The Zero is pretty good, too.

Im very happy with the JF-AH model, but i do like the interior canopy texture's better on the FSC model in the screens aardvark62 posted.
