I did mess with the movies and locations a good bits years ago when I was all into the immersion factors with airfields. It was part of my first work with the grass fields, taxiways and all that. Some airfields did not have the right code for a movie and such so you would get a fixed camera view. It does involve the gsl and I think you have to know which airfields are chosen for the right movies or which airfield TYPE (number) has a movie assigned to it. Where there are gaps or no associations, this might be where the QC problems come in. Or maybe it's a similar association issue but with the QC locations file.
