The Kodiak to be more specific. I know most folks have been flying Bill creation for some time now and I did for a while, but scatterbrained as I am, and as much trouble as I've had with HD crashes and such. . .well, I'm just rediscovering the fun of flying the Kodiak.

I took off from my latest small air strip "Flying Dollar" and flew for an hour or so around NE Pennsylvania and the Pocono Mountains, then back into 8N4 for a short field landing. What fun. Great airplane Bill, no problems with fps and as you can see from the pics I had everything on.

Database Error: I've been getting this since about 1am this morning and it's still a problem. As soon as it's fixed, I'll post the pics that go with my story, lol.

I LOVE the Kodiak. Still learning it.

Fantastic video from the actual company there. Lot's of good stuff in that.

STOL with 750 hp... What a friggan MONSTER!

Heck the CEO of the company looks to be as tough as the plane!

Charles.

Yea, actually I watched that video after you posted yesterday and that got me back on trying to find my Kodiak (it was lost with a HDD crash among other things). Bill was kind enough to resend a download link and I was back up and flying this morning. I had forgotten how hot that baby is. A blast to fly into small strips.:salute:

The Kodiak is a pretty wild plane.

One thing though that people do not realise is that the thing is HUGE! It looks like a Cessna sort of shape, but the top of the wings must be 10 or 12 feet high. Who knows how high that rudder is. Its a massive plane. And built like a tank. The airframe is designed for the worst climates and roughest landings, and designed to last as long or longer then a DeHavilland Beaver, which is alot to ask for in a plane.

Bill

It's coolness in a shape of an aircraft. It such a fun aircraft to throw around. Another day I was making an approach to short strip with full flaps, then just above the treeline I eased the throttle and it dropped like a stone, then just pitching the nose up it flared beautifully an came to smooth touchdown. And I probably used one third of the short strip. Just can't beat that performance.:salute::salute::salute::salute:

if there was ever a flight sim hall of fame, this model would be a shoo-in. :applause:

someday (100 yrs in the future) people will remember the kodiak the way we currently remember the dc-3.

On that note, I wouldn't be half surprised if, 100 years in the future, people are still flying the Kodiak. :icon_lol:

This thread reminded me of how fun this beast is. I can't believe I haven't painted this one yet! That needs to be rectified!

Never could get the images to post here so I moved them over to photobucket:

That video someone posted yesterday inspired me to buy this plane this AM...

I am happy I did-beyond words Lionheart! This together with Mike Super Cub-I am in flying nirvana...

Now If I could find some good paints...

Bill

I see it alot in places where missionary work is in progress. Recently in Papua New Guinea (JAARS Aviation website has some cool pics and info).

Speaking of which, does that mean this plane and the Raw Grit scenery add on for FSX are perfect mates? ;)

Disclamer: contains missionary material of a religious nature. Ignore if that is offensive to you. Appreciate the plane is all this is about.

So. Will we be seeing any of these in Alaska?

Charles.

The Kodiak has been, and continues to be, my favorite FSX plane since I first bought it. Bill did a tremendous job on it and it is just plain (no pun intended) fun to fly. :)

@sky~6, I've got a few Kodiak repaints up here in the library. I can't say if you would think they're good or not as that's all a matter of personal opinion, but I like 'em. ;)
