Question about aircraft doors-canopys in FSX

When in FSX and after landing any plane and have stopped and put on the brakes, I sometimes, repeat sometimes, experience a situation where when I go to open the doors or canopy
they will open then abruptly shut by themselves - wierd. I usually either have to select another plane or restart FSX to flush that out and then the doors will open and stay open till I manually
close them. A bit of a conundrum that maybe someone else here has experienced or knows what causes that. :isadizzy:

I will bet that it only happens when you are sitting at or very close to a FSX refuelling point. It's a known bug/feature that has been well documented over the years.

Exit doors (of any type) will snap shut if operated while the aircraft is in the 'fuel box' area. Unfortunately the 'fuel box' is quite large and not displayed so you may think you are clear of it when in fact some part of your aircraft is still inside it.

Wow, Thanks for the reply. Guess I missed that documentation. I'll have to keep that in mind when I park the plane. :wavey:

The problem is that the fuel box is a 'one-size-fits-all' item so it was made big enough to cater to a 747 which means you can fit several Piper Cubs in there at the same time! It's a rectangular area which is placed at the airport whenever a fuel point is added and you have no indication in the sim as to just where it's boundaries are.

Why MS decided that all exits should close within the box is open to debate! :isadizzy:

Interesting as we are required to have an exit open when fueling....

FSX is pretty good but not perfect.
